Executive Session Items

View captioned video.

Now, we have to come executive session. We previously announced that we would take 28 in executive session. For a discussion with legal counsel. Posted for executive session are two items, 32. Receive status report and take appropriate action on proposed voluntary buyout program of certain single-family residential properties adjacent to walnut creek and located along quiette drive in precinct 1. That will be under the consultation and real estate property exceptions. And number 33. Receive legal advice and take appropriate action on gasb 45. 1 that's under the consultation with attorney exception to the open meetings act. We will discuss these three items in executive session but will return to open court before taking any action.

we have returned from executive session where we discussed the following items. Number 28, the scofield parkway street and drainage improvements project. And we were updated about some of the legal issues. Probably no action today. Staff will keep working with the city of Austin and the scofield contractor and this matter will be back on the court's agenda probably in a couple of week. Weeks. That's what we were told. So somebody will ask us to put it back on when necessary. Probably additional language. Okay?

>> just to make sure that we know that we need to expand our discussions if necessary to include the city management in terms of making sure that they are fully aware of what's going on with that situation so there's good cooperation, collaboration and good communication.

>> no objection.

>> thanks.

>> 32 involves the voluntary buyout program in the walnut creek area, especially along quiet drive. Move that we authorize staff to continue negotiating with affected residence.

>> second.

>> and advise the Commissioners court of when this matter should be back on our agenda. Anything else on that? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Number 33 involves gasb involve. Let me try a motion here. I move we authorize the county judge and any other member of the Commissioners court to advocate the county's position to gasb 45, which is consistent with the advice given us by outside legal counsel and that we share out position with the officials and staff of the conference of urban counties, the Texas association of counties, the governor's office and other state officials, state legislators, the bond rating firms and any other interested parties.

>> second.

>> that our position be to basically proactively advocate the county's position which at the current time is inconsistent with the hasb and gasb boards, and we'll discuss this further on Thursday when we talk about legislation. Second? Seconded by Commissioner Gomez. Any more discussion? All in favor? Nan. That passes by unanimous vote.

>> the other thing is I mentioned the Commissioners court, but it would be any other professional folk who represent Travis County, which would be county auditor, legal counsel and financial advisor. Typically in our discussions if we take the team, it would be be not only court members, but also the others.

>> judge, would that also include any lobbyists that the county has retained, either by this Commissioners court or I know the auditor has her own legislative advocate as well.

>> right. And that will be discussed further on Thursday of this week and also next Tuesday, a separate item. Okay? Motion includes all of that without objection. There is no further business before the Commissioners court before.

>> move adjourn.

>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
