Executive Session Items

Now we're ready -- ready for executive session. On 22 we mentioned this morning we'd take it to executive session. That's the matter regarding the prohibition of metal detectors in Travis County parks and that's under consultation with legal counsel, exception to the open meetings act. No. 41 is to receive briefing and take from county attorney and authorize county attorney to accept, reject or counteroffer, settlement demand and take appropriate action regarding james colby west, that's the consultation with attorney and personnel matters exception to the open meetings act. 42, receive from county attorney and take appropriate action regarding on call paycheck and the medical examiner's office, exception to the open meetings act, 43, consider and take appropriate action on 3 month extension of lease, at ih-35, for a period of February 2007 through April 2007. Consultation with attorney and real estate -- and real property matters exception. 44, receive briefing -- legal briefing and take appropriate action regarding case no. 106-cv-01384-plf, in the united states district court for the district of columbia, northwest Austin municipal utility district no. 1, versus albert on gonzales, attorney general of the united states concerning pre clearance and consequence tiewlt at of section 5 of the voting rights act, 42 usc, section 1973 c, consultation with attorney, and no. 45 is to receive briefing briefing from county attorney and take appropriate action regarding invoice received from wm investments no. 6, 10401 burnet road, ltd., for the purchase of the precinct 2 jp constable, consultation with attorney and real property exceptions to the open meetings act. We will discuss these matters in executive session but we'll return to open court before taking any action.

>> judge, I would make a motion that we accept the 10,000 offer, along with the stipulation that everything is -- is dropped. And we move forward with this -- with this case.

>> any discussion of the motion? This would be -- basically to resolve any and all claims in this matter, john. Any more discussion? All in favor? Show Commissioners Davis, Daugherty and yours truly voting in favor.

>> voting against, Commissioner Sonleitner. Number 42, we did discuss, I don't think there's any action to take today. Staff will do some fact gathering, a bit more research, be back on the court's agenda on November 14th. 43 is a matter involving a three-month lease extension of a lease at 4920 ih 35 from February 2007 through April 2007. Move approval.

That passes by unanimous vote. 44 is a matter involving the northwest Austin municipal utility district number 1 versus alberto gonzales, attorney general of the united states move that we intervene in this matter, authorize legal counsel to file the necessary paperwork.
