Now, 24 is is to consider and take appropriate action on letter to employees describing fy '07 employee benefits.

>> good afternoon. Dwreafted at the request of the -- we drafted at the request of the court a communication that will be sent to all employees in Travis County. We usually do this on an annual basis right after the adoption of the budget to share with them what the actions that the court took on compensation package, which includes not only a four percent cost of living raise for fy '07, but also includes the budget that includes a reserve for job analysis and bringing people to minimum of pay grade due to reclassification or job analysis that may show that their jobs be or pay was below the competitive market pay. We also have a peace officers pay scale, be and that just reminds or provides information to anyone that is on pops that they will be be receiving a step increase on their anniversary date of two percent. Employee health care we're very proud of our employee health care package. We have been able to keep the increases below four percent for active employees and their dependents. Major increases were experienced, so by those individuals between the age of -- below the age of 65, but overall we've done really quite well in our health care. The county also offers a vacation, sick leave and holidays, a holiday schedule is attached for their -- for the employees.

>> do we think employees will read a letter this long?

>> we could shorten it.

>> that was my only question. Now, I read it fairly quickly and I -- I wouldn't make it small print because I know they wouldn't read it then.

>> I was just kidding. [ laughter ]

>> I looked at several previous versions more than I did this one, but I did read this one fairly quickly. There's one sentence that doesn't set well with me. And that is one that says we are all very fortunate to work for Travis County. I say let's let them read the letter and reach that conclusion on their own. So I would just take that one sentence out. And it happened to be in the onning sentence. The -- in the opening sentence. The rest of it I think if they will read it is fine. And I thought -- I do think there is some value to getting it out by the first of the year or close to it. So any other recommendation?

>> judge, they may not read it right away, but it would be maybe some -- good to have available when you have time to go back and have a question about something or other you can refer to this, you know?

>> we were thinking of going ahead and sending it out with the paychecks.

>> judge, the link leng beth doesn't really bug me because unfortunately most people operate in some little information that they misinterpret the information. I would suggest putting this on two sided because we do have a fourth sheet which is the holidays which is important, but this is the kind of thing that they can choose to read this or not, but worst case scenario they can pull the calendar off and save that. But vild this on two sheets of paper.

>> no problem. Any objection to that one sentence coming out?

>> my other ed dits --

>> I did think about it two days.

>> we'll put it out with paychecks.

>> move approval. And the court is expected to sign it. All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
