Item no. 1 is a public hearing to receive comments on the fiscal year 2007 tax rate and budget.

>> the Commissioners court has voted to drop the tax rate from 4993 to 4499, that will result in a decrease in the average homestead owner paying -- paying from $813 in the current fiscal year to a decrease of $3 to $810. The budget is still fluid. You are in the process of -- of completing your markup and -- and during this public hearing, the judge is supposed to announce when the -- when the court will -- will adopt the budget. Which -- which is scheduled for September 26th at 9:00 a.m. In this building. That's required by law.
>> thanks for making that announcement for me. [laughter] you will be coming a more complete budget direct, mr. Smith.
>> I'm just following what council tells me to do.

>> would anyone like to give comments during this public hearing? This process did start about -- about five months ago and so we are toward the end with about 99% of it done, I would say. There being no comments --
