Item 33

33 is to consider and take appropriate action regarding an order to designate a new election day polling place for November 7, 2006 joint general and special elections. And I think we may want to call it up so those would receive notice that we will take action on 232 this week.

>> good morning, dana debeauvoir, Travis County clerk. With me, my staff member, kim dilg, who is in charge of polling places, finding them and confirming them for us. What we have for you today is an update for the November 17th election -- the November 7th election. Do you want to tell them about the polling place change?

>> we were using balcones place apartments for that polling place. They have new management and do not want to give us that new space. The space they had identified for us did not have good a.d.a. Compliance. 'We have a very active judge and republican precinct chair in that precinct, harrison smith, so we worked together to find an alternative polling location, and that was the assistive living center there on duval road.

>> 5301 west duval road, to be specific. So for those listening last week, 232 now votes on that location. 228 and 232 now vote together at that assistive living facility.

>> how do you notify that there has been a change?

>> we will send a household voting list per household of the change of polling location, the postcard. It's in english and spanish sent to each household with a registered voter.

>> and didn't have you something related to precinct 1231, we -- 231?

>> the summit originally said yes and then a district manager came in and said no. So we really have very few options in that precinct. I don't know if you're familiar with the cat mountain area. We were formerly in a tabc office, office building, there was a community conference room. At the time the building was at low capacity, it wasn't a problem. They are now at full capacity. The other people in the building want to use that room and there's now hardly any parking there. So they have said that they are not able to host us any loarng.

>> so 231 is being combined with 271, which is dos? Doss.

>> that part of today's order?

>> yes.

>> move approval. Discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
