Number 11, is to consider and take appropriate action on request from Texas department of transportation to participate in workplace travel survey of county employees and buildings at shreghted county sites.

>> this is a -- periodically the state does what they call trip generation studies. It's to find out how many -- the different types of trips that are made to different destinations. And they use these measurements then in our computer forecast models. So when they come to county government, for instance, they know that a building of this square footage with the thaifts we have dwn would generate so many trips per person or per square foot. So that's what this is, they're updating their trip generation rates. They're asking us to participate in the study by allowing their survey people to take surveys of the visitors to the building, the employees. They'll be asking certain selected employees from certain departments will be asked to do a 24-hour log of their travel, the origin, destination, what kind of vehicle they used in taking the trip, that sort of information. They will also be looking at the freight movements. For instance, they'll want to know how freight comes to the building, what kind of freight they bring, how often, and then I think that's it. That's pretty much the type of information. They'll be doing this survey the first two weeks in September. It runs for about -- some of the surveys will be 24 hours, some will be people stationed at the door to question exiting visitors. I thought it would be important for the court first to authorize this type of survey and then separate from this the consulting companies that are in charge of the survey will contact the individual departments who they would like to participate in this survey and we'll be talking to either the elected officials or the department heads to make sure that it's okay within their respective departments.

>> have they done this before in the past?

>> not to my knowledge.

>> I've never heard this before until I saw it on the agenda. I said I tried to call.

>> I don't recall participate ng a survey like this. And they are interested in this building in particular and they may also do part of the courthouse.

>> so it's all county-owned buildings or just --

>> no, just our campuses all over. And they just want selected sites. This building, the administration building is one of the sites that they would like to survey, and they would like to survey the courthouse, certain activities within the courthouse. Right now they're probably going to stay away from the jail and court system.

>> move approval.

>> second.

>> any more discussion? They know that no matter what the court does, located officials have authority --

>> they understand.

>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. By an enthusiastic Commissioners court.
