Item 16

16 is a matter involving our contract with consultants. We need legal advice on that? I have just one or two legal questions. Do we need to discuss that in executive session -- I don't know whether there was a letter -- the letter requested basically an increase in the amount. Legally is that a modification that we can do in the same contract?

>> I can make the change. The way you have the wording consider and take appropriate action, I believe that you could direct me to include the price increase and then authorize me to sign that. If that's y'all's --

>> let's just call it up. 16. Consider and take appropriate action on request for modification no. 1 to contract no. Ps040282jw with robert r. Kamm and christopher s. Shields, p.c., for professional legislative advocacy services. And --

>> [indiscernible]

>> yeah. Actually, more years than I recalled until I saw the letter. And that has been that amount pretty much from the beginning, hasn't it?

>> yes, sir.

>> and the number of special sessions get more and more special. And they all seem to impact county issues. So I was not at all uncomfortable with the dollar amount. It is a bargain compared to many other jurisdictions.

>> move that the amount in the modification be $87,000. I think we asked the purchasing agent to make that change for us. Discussion?

>> will that go -- not to exceed amount by long distance that we have on the books right now?

>> it will increase the not to -- y'all will be authorizing an increase up to a -- to an annual fee, well, it's actually a two year fee of $87,000. The -- also in the contract they have a thousand dollars a year expenses, so it will be a not to exceed of 89,000 over a two year period.

>> not to exceed what now?

>> 89,000 over a two year period it will not exceed 89,000.

>> actually invoice the expenses right? I know we do that --

>> they got a thousand dollars a year expenses, reimbursables, then they get a set fee. The fee up to $87,000 for the two year period, they will still have the 2,000, one thousand dollars per year. Not to exceed 89,000.

>> is that a motion, judge.

>> 87 plus expenses, expenses already --

>> a thousand dollars a year. 1,000 per year.

>> 1,000. So it's 87 plus 1,000, that's 88.

>> well, the --

>> I think the 87 is per year.

>> per year.

>> yeah. I think so, too.

>> it is judge, you are right. Because it's a monthly retainer.

>> so 87 plus 1,000. Basically. Okay.

>> 88.

>> any more discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
