Item 33

33. Consider and take appropriate action on strategy to fill executive manager for criminal justice planning and executive manager for emergency services positions and related issues. Can we get the subcommittees to look at the job descriptions that we actually posted? Must have been about -- about 8 or 9 months ago. Have those on the court's agenda next week. To figure out whether they are sufficient, need to be revised, if we think they need to be revised maybe changes. Give ourselves two weeks for that.

>> that's our next step.

>> are we talking about the subcommittees or the new subcommittees?

>> talking about the subcommittees. Now, I think that -- that you know if the subcommittees could have one meeting and do that, maybe all of us take it upon ourselves to at least review the two job descriptions between now and Tuesday, we would probably have maximum impact.

>> I think that the subcommittees needed to be divided into what would be the subcommittees that will be doing the course of work. And I have already made it very clear that -- that my slot needs to be taken by Commissioner Davis because of the nature of these two slots.

>> Commissioner Davis wasn't here then. When I looked around today that was my first thought that -- that I think you need to chat with him about that. I think my own view if I were leaving the court, I don't know that I would insist that somebody else take my duties and responsibilities. If the other person agreed to do it, I wouldn't have any problem with that. I think --

>> this is a separate process, judge.

>> it requires a more diplomatic conversation and agreement than we've had so far unless you've had it.

>> I知 just letting we can't talk amongst ourselves in front of the court, in terms of this, in terms of the full course of work impolitely declining to --

>> I don't think that you have a right to decline.

>> actually, yeah judge I do.

>> end the did I on an argument, that -- my idea, unless we can all be here until 6:30, 7:00, we need to discuss some matters in executive session that I know of take 30 or 40 minutes.

>> judge I have another commitment.

>> that's why I知 not -- my suggestion is that we at least can make some progress between now and next week if we look at the job descriptions and figure out whether we think they are adequate, whether we think they need to be revised. That's an issue that I think needs to be discussed, Commissioner Davis needs to know about it. If he disagrees then I mean --

>> I thought --

>> I haven't chatted with him.

>> you said last week you were going to.

>> well, I知 having second thoughts about that. When I looked around realized I had not -- I don't think it's a good idea the more I think about it.

>> well, I disagree. And -- not making myself available.

>> we are not making any progress on this.

>> nope.

>> those willing, look at the job descriptions.

>> I will look.

>> we will have it back on next week.

>> all right.

>> now, there are -- there are going to be a whole lot of work between now and the end of December.

>> no kidding.

>> I think the five of us need to be here to do it is my view.

>> right. Five of us need to be here to do it. Not four people and one person gets left out. So all five of us are going to be assigned the duties here. I知 happy with the strategy that has all five of us working every single week to try to make this happen. But I don't have I have problems with four of us being given a heavy workload here and one person gets to be out and it's not the person who is not going to be here. So I知 fine if all five of us --

>> you have insisted on taking the lead in emergency medical services since I致e been on the court.

>> this has nothing to do with e.m.s.

>> it doesn't?

>> this has to do -- with executive manager, es.

>> but it's a whole lot of emergency medical services.

>> no it's not. This is called trying to find an executive manager and there's a lot of work and if all five of us --

>> the executive manager for what departments?

>> es. Related.

>> the area that you have been working in and one of our leaders.

>> judge, if all five of us are going to equally divide up this work, I知 in. But I don't think it's fair to unfairly divide up this work.

>> we will have it back on next week.

>> [indiscernible]

>> last week when you were gone, you were put -- it was volunteered for you that you would --

>> the question was raised.

>> that you would go with me and you I would be part of looking at -- at the emergency services -- the executive manager for that position, Commissioner Sonleitner was going to step out. And she was going to -- going to ask if you would work with me on that versus she and I have always been on that committee.

>> [indiscernible] [inaudible - no mic]

>> great.

>> I heard a volunteering --

>> we will have it back on next week.
