Number 20-a, consider and take appropriate action on a request to transfer $250,000 of accrued interest from the 1984 county bond election to the ferguson lane-tuscany way extension project for the preliminary design of the tuscany way extension from 290 east southeasterly to springdale road and 20-b is approve modification number 5 to contract number 99 ae 601-jj, martinez, wright, mendez, inc. For ferguson lane, tuscany way extension roadway improvement project.

>> good morning. As you are aware, we have a project, cuss tuscany way north of u.s. Highway 290 that would connect an existing industrial collector street in with ferguson. That is consistent with the adopted transportation plan, the regional transportation plan adopted by campo. There is another piece of tuscany that we have not really initiated any project on, and that is a portion south of 290 between 290 and springdale road. It would be a necessary connection because we're looking at tuscany to be the bridge between 290 and the adjoining arterial system. So what this contract would allow us to do is look at the route and alignment for this southern extension of tuscany between 290 and springdale. Basically preliminary engineering. Basically maps out whatever constraints that there may be to eventually constructing a road. We're only asking for the preliminary engineering money. This is within the corporate limits of the city limits of Austin. We know that ultimately there will need to be a project that will need public funding, we assume that will be a joint project with Travis County-city of Austin both if it got to the capital improvements phase of that. But right now we're just looking at what will it take to make that connection.

>> it's been moved and seconded already, so I guess I won't have to make that motion.

>> (indiscernible).

>> I move approval of it, but what I’d like to basically let folks know that this money that's being utilized to do the ane, which is associated with the b portion of this item, is the interest accrued from the 1984 bond money. So that needs to be, I think, stressed a little bit so folks will know where the source of funding is coming from. If you could say that to verify what I’m saying, I think that would tie in the two portions of this, a and b, and of course we did hear this morning from citizens that are looking very forward to this connection. In fact, I haven't had any opposition from anyone that's opposing this type of connection. But I just thought it was maybe relevant to maybe just mention the source of funding for the b portion -- actually funding the b portion of this particular item.

>> the motion is for a, right?

>> the motion is for a.

>> that is correct, Commissioner, that we are using county funds from 84 bond monies, interest earned on those funds, to pay for the contract modification to martinez, wright and mendez contract to perform the preliminary engineering for the project.

>> for my information, how much money do we -- how much interest do we have on '84?

>> the last figure I saw was about $584,000. And this will use up 250,000 of it.

>> any more discussion of the motion covering 28? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. 20-b is basically to amend the contract to award this to martinez, wright and mendez?

>> move approval.

>> second.

>> motion by Commissioner Davis, seconded by Commissioner Gomez. Any more discussion? We already have a contract with them working, so it makes sense to add to it.

>> they did the design for 290, so it makes sense for them to carry on the design south.

>> councilmember alvarez of scale, save money, etcetera.

>> yes, sir.

>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote also. Thank you very much.

>> [ applause ]
