Citizens Communication
Citizen's communication is next. And mike berry has signed in. This item is designed to give residents an opportunity to discuss with the Commissioners courtney matter not on the agenda. And mr. Berry has a person and a mascot with him today. He'll explain both to us.
>> yes. Thank you, sir. And I want to on behalf of the (indiscernible) organization, I want to thank the members of the Travis County Commissioners court for having us here today and vus to educate the community a little bit on who we are, we are members of the n.b.a. Development league, an a team league that is a minor league affiliate of the san antonio spurs and houston rockets and we just celebrated our first san remembersry here in the great county of -- owe first anniversary here in Travis County. And I wanted to make the citizens aware ofñi a special game we will be hosting at the Austin convention center on Sunday, April second. We are celebrating a Travis County day for our 3:00 o'clock game at the Austin convention center this Sunday, April 2nd, and we have sent fliers out to Travis County employees through shaun malone's office and we are offering a special ticket discount and members of the Travis County employees and staff can contact us at 236-8333 or at -- they can also get information on the www.austintoros.com. And we will also be distributing free bobble head dolls of one of our players for all kids 14 and under at the game. And our whole entertainment experience is geared towards families and children. So it's a great time out. This will be our 22nd of 23 home games this first year at the convention center, and on behalf of our franchise and our league, I want to thank the county staff and Commissioners court for their great hospitality this first year in Austin and Travis County and we're looking forward to many, many successful years here in the future. I want to introduce john jackson on our staff as well as our team mascot, da bull over my shoulder here. So again, we just wanted to share information about our team as we celebrate our first anniversary here in Travis County and continue to educate members of the court and the county on our team and our franchise. Thank you very much for having us here this morning.
>> thank you very much. What's the record this year?
>> we're 23 and 21. We're fighting for a playoff spot. Currently I think we're in third place in our league and our head coach is dennis johnson, n.b.a. Great and I think a future n.b.a. Hall of famer, so it's been quite a thrill to be here in the market this first year. Like I said, we're trying to get very involved in the community not only here in the city of Austin, but throughout Travis County, in the schools and hospitals and getting our athletes out in the community to read to achieve events throughout our schools. And a variety of other charities and other nonprofit events. So we're thrilled to be here and we're going to be we think active members in the community for a long time.
>> two home games left?
>> actually three. Our final home games are Saturday the 1st at 7:30. Sunday at 3:00 p.m. And the sixth at 7:30 and there's a chance we could host a playoff game on April 15th or April 22nd.
>> you're about to make the playoffs? You're right on the bubble?
>> we are on the bubble. There's four of our a teams will go to the playoffs and it's kind of a sudden death scenario where one plays a four seed, two plays a three seed and the two remaining teams play for the championship.
>> I told you guys if you came out to the Travis County expo center you would have a winning record. I tried to get you there with that 4,000 parking slots available to you.
>> being on the bubble worked for george mason. [ laughter ]
>> one more time, it's 236-8333.
>> yes, sir. And our website is Austintoros.com.
>> let's get the mascot to work a little harder. [ laughter ]
>> anybody else for citizen's communication? That's for my item not on the agenda.
