Number 4, recognize Travis County for receiving the united states house of representatives certificate of recognition, corporate supplier diversity award for 2006.
>> good morning, judge, Commissioners. Cyd grimes Travis County purchasing agent, juan guerrero and sylvia lopez, first I want to thank the good lord for getting me here this morning and my staff, sylvia just got here. The lightning was bouncing everywhere. So thank you. Last month or this month myself and staff attended the 6th annual small business procurement conference which congressman chet edwards sponsors each year. The goals of that conference are to bring together small and minority businesses with military federal state and local governments to -- to learn more about how to do business with those entities. Also to encourage the expansion of these suppliers in contracting and government and then also to provide seminars and workshops to -- to the small businesses to help them gain knowledge and understanding. I was a guest speaker talked about how to do business with counties, sylvia and jerome and betty set up tables and gave our our information. One of the things that I really didn't know that sylvia had done is she put us in for the award and once again we won an award, from the house of representatives, and it says certificate of recognition presented to the honorable samuel t. Biscoe for our Travis County h.u.b. Program. So once again, we've -- we've shown that our program is a good program, we are the first Texas county to have officially adopted a h.u.b. Program. So we all should be very proud of that. So thank you very much.

>> when they gave it to me, I told sylvia it has Biscoe on it. I notice jerome didn't bring the camera this morning. Maybe later a picture of all of us, get you a picture.

>> I think it's interesting that we continue to win these awards yet we still have to pay people to come in and teach us to tell us what we need to be doing better. My hat is off to you for winning the awards. I mean, I think we are doing obviously a pretty guys job unless they just hand these things out because you show up.
>> well, speaking of that contract, we have -- we're not paying for those services because we haven't got them yet. Commissioner Davis keeps calling me and asking about ms. Holt. We are hoping that she will come through with us on those contractul terms and conditions.
>> I am looking forward to that day, really am.
>> seriously, if we are doing the job, maybe we ought to talk ms. Holt and say, you know, maybe we don't -- you haven't done the work yet, maybe we will keep the money and March along.
>> room for improvement, Commissioner.
>> room for improvement. A lot of awards, a lot of room for improvement.
