Citizens Communication

Citizens communication is next. This item is designed to give residents an opportunity to address the Commissioners court on any matter not on the agenda. And one resident has signed in. Vincent jay may.

>> good morning, I think it's an accepted fact that Travis County citizens east of i-35 have traditionally had their gas taxes raided for road projects west of i-35. I think that's an accepted fact. Texas cot a couple of -- txdot a couple of months ago let go of money to improve roads in Travis County. A big change came up. A decision was made to toll those roads. Roads that we have paid for already. Substantially if not completely. The agency set up to toll those roads, ctrma, while they are tolling us for roads that are already paid for, is building free roads west of i-35. They have 52 lane miles of free new capacity scheduled and that's specifically on 45 southwest, and 183 a. This is brand new capacity. Free service lanes that are not replacements for existing roads. There is no -- no free construction being done, no new free roads being built, east of i-35. People who ride on highway 45 southwest, if they are going east, they have free lanes. The minute they cross i-35, the free lanes disappear. East Travis County is becoming the most heavily tolled area in the united states if not on earth. I think I’m very distressed with the votes that the Travis County Commissioners representatives to campo have made. My purpose here today is to ask you to appoint Ron Davis to represent the interests of the people of east Travis County who have traditionally been tax slaves, paying for roads on the west side of i-35, I don't know how you go about appointing people. But that's what we want.

>> thank you.

>> you're welcome.

>> we will certainly take that recommendation under advisement. Commissioner Davis, I think -- any member of the campo would probably relinquish his or her seat.

>> we did last time and it was an offer that was politely declined. Just for the record, ctrma has absolutely nothing to do with s.h. 45 southwest. They have -- they have two projects and that is not one of them.

>> anybody else for citizens communication? That's to address the court on any item -- any matter not on the agenda. Then the consent items are next.
