17. Consider and take appropriate action on issues regarding the medical examiner’s office: a. Compensation issues and performance measures for medical examiner and deputy medical examiner (this item may be taken into executive session, pursuant to gov't code ann. 551.074, personnel matters); and b. Expenses for dallas county medical examiner staff to provide training on national association of medical examiners accreditation program.

>> yes, sir. Alicia perez, executive manager for the administrative operations. As you have indicated, judge, the -- a, will be taken into executive session, we have some information to share and we did meet with the subcommittee. I would like to discuss that in executive session. Under b, we have spoken with the dallas county m.e.'s office. If you recall there are only 3 medical examiner's office -- of the 11 in the state of Texas that are accredited. Dallas most recently is going through reaccreditation. They have been accredited since 1997. They run a very, very tight ship are considered to be one of the best medical examiner's offices in the state. They have agreed to send two individuals, the chief deputy medical examiner and the office administrator down to train our folks for two days. They will not charge for the time here only are requesting reimbursement or us covering their expenses. We looked at hotel and flight and meals and it's about $1,500 for the two days. And we think that's very reasonable since --

>> both or per person?

>> it's total.

>> total?

>> four seasons or holiday inn?

>> probably in between. Somewhere that's closer to the me's office, maybe marriott. We are going to see what we can work out with one of the hotels since this would not be the -- the only trip, we are also considering expenses when we bring down the candidates for the medical examiner. So we will try to work out a good deal with -- with a hotel that's close to the me's office.

>> for the government rate.

>> yes.

>> move approval.

>> yes. And we also would ask the court that I be able to take the -- the funding from the h.r. Training and travel fund since the m.e.'s budget is a little tight.

>> is that okay, linda?

>> that's $1,500, right?

>> [inaudible - no mic]

>> 1500 bucks is what you are saying.

>> yes.

>> approximately. Yes.

>> we really appreciate their -- that they are -- their agreement to assist us. Coming down spending a couple of days. Especially with the -- with the workload up there being probably not as heavy as ours, but heavy enough. Discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. And should we discuss a in executive session and then come back to open court?

>> yes, sir.

>> take whatever action we need to take. Do any -- any necessary follow-up discussion. That is what we will do on item 17.

>> thanks to the subcommittee.

>> for their work.

>> yes.

>> the outstanding subcommittee of the court.

>> yes. It will be consultation with attorney exception to the open meetings act.
