Travis County Commissioners Court
August 30, 2005
Item 9
Number 9 is on the agenda. That's the 5501 airport boulevard item. The item from hell many have called it. [ laughter ] do we want to take it up?
>> do we have to do that today?
>> can I have a new suggestion because it's actually not really listed here? And it has to do with the idea that perhaps parking and a parking structure is another use for that space that needs to be kind of due diligenced out as to what that will do with the flexibility of all of that property because too many of these things come back, we don't have enough parking space. And if we can accommodate our own employees in a structured garage on what is a temporary piece that have building, it's not like it's -- it's the add on, then we could all of a sudden have many, many, many more options for not only that space, but other things we're looking at in the neighborhood.
>> what if I recommend this, is there any way for you to meet with us two at a time, let us review these and then we come into court and have a 15 minute discussion and then vote.
>> yes, sir, we could do that.
>> I think we'll get more done that way. For us to do it right will take, I’m thinking 30 minutes to an hour. And I don't know that we have the energy to do that today, then executive session. So you will get a much more alert and attentive court I think on another day. But it may help. This has been on the agenda quite a few weeks, but we haven't really discussed it in quite some time. Last time we discussed it, we did not make much progress, but it took a along time, right? So can we do that? If we could make time to kind of chat with you.
>> and judge, some new discussions have been occurring on our agenda, and I think we all know what they are that all of a sudden that knowledge about some other pieces in this puzzle, there may be -- like I said, that structured parking has not really been presented in due diligenced out, and that would I think -- I think should be a part of discussions that you do have with individual Commissioners because it could put a different perspective on some of the things that we're trying to do out there. And if we don't address parking, then we don't have options out at airport boulevard. And that has not been fully discussed with everybody. Okay.
>> okay. Sorry. Appreciate your patience today.
