Travis County Commissioners Court
August 9, 2005
Item 1
Number one is to consider and take appropriate action regarding the prohibition of outdoor burning in the unincorporated areas of Travis County.
>> rain [indiscernible] burn ban.
>> thank you.
>> good morning, Travis County emergency management coordinator, pete baldwin. In a nutshell, I will come back this week and ask that we lift the outdoor burning ban based upon the fact that our average drought index for the county has dropped below 500, plus the fact is that we've had not significant rain, but beneficial rains over the last three days, plus we are getting more and -- in the next couple of days coming in. And additional shots later on. Therefore, based upon my conversations with the chiefs and looking at the data, it would be my recommendation to the court that we lift that outdoor burning ban that we enabled back on July 26th.
>> move that we follow staff's recommendation.
>> second.
>> discussion? All in favor?
>> thank you.
>> that passes by unanimous vote, thank you.
>> I will deliver the order to your office, sir.
>> all right.
>> thank you.
>> and we should leave this on the agenda weekly just in case we need it?
>> I would go ahead and pull it. We have bought ourselves at least 10 days to two weeks. If we get back into that scenario, I will put it back on in advance.
>> put it on until further notice. Thank you very much.
