Number 4 is to approve resolution recognizing george morgan on retirement after 15 years of service with Travis County star flight. Good morning.
>> good morning, hey, george.
>> should I read it?
>> please.
>> it reads: whereas george morgan is retiring from Travis County after 15 years of dedicated service as star flight's manager of aircraft maintenance; whereas throughout his distinguished career with star flight, george constantly displayed positive, cooperative and upbeat attitude; whereas george's hard work, dedication and commitment are well known and appreciated by his colleagues and the Commissioners court, a record of exceeding performance standards to enable the helicopter fleet availability rate to be maintained above the 99% mark, whereas by word, deed, steadfast determination, george has set an example that inspires us to use our skills, talents, intellect that will make Travis County a better place for our residents and whereas it is appropriate to we pause today to recognize and honor george for his many years of dedication and hard work. Now therefore be it resolved that we the members of the Travis County Commissioners court do hereby extend special thanks to george morgan for his years of dedicated service and extend best wishes to him in all future endeavors. I move approval.
>> second.
>> good morning.
>> good morning.
>> thank you. I just wanted to say a couple of things. It seems just like yesterday that I was introduced to the court as the manager of maintenance for star flight. And of course I had a lot more hair back then and it's kind of faded away on me. I would like to thank the court for its support and previous courts for their support of the star flight program. It's just been phenomenal, it's been a great experience for me. Star flight probably in aviation, at least for me, is very special. The type of work that these helicopters perform is just phenomenal and the medical people, I can't say enough for them. It's just been a wonderful experience and I thank all of you.
>> thank you, george.
>> thank you.
>> okay. Good morning. I would like to add to that, george, you'll be missed very much by all of the personnel at star flight. And you have a heartfelt thanks for everyone at star flight for the job that you have done over the past 15 years that you have been here with us. I would have to also add that every flight at star flight starts with the maintenance department. Without them, aircraft would never leave the ground and they would not be safe operation that they were to leave the ground without the approval of maintenance. So, george, thanks again for all of your hard work and your dedication to the program. We are going to miss you very much at star flight.
>> thank you.
>> anybody else? Well, a couple years back we celebrated the 20th anniversary, so george was there 15 of that 20 year period. I often look up in amazement at star flights flying overhead, I have to confess I seldom thought about the mechanics that really made that air travel possible. But it's super critical. And we will have a phone number where we can reach you just in case we need you, right? [laughter]
>> absolutely.
>> best of luck.
>> and, george, one of the other things that you were always able to do, in terms of trying to get whatever necessary repairs or upgrades or whatever, you had a way of getting things out of the manufacturer and you just convinced them that it was always in the contract whether it was there or not. And so -- you did your best to also protect the fiduciary responsibility of Travis County and get the most out of the equipment that we invested in and I appreciate it.
>> thank you.
>> since you got me up in that helicopter for the first time a couple of weeks ago, which was no small task, obviously knowing that george is the person responsible for making sure that that helicopter gets up and flies around like it should, you may have a hard time getting me up again. I mean, losing george, unless you are going to convince me whoever is taking over this job -- congratulations on, you know, a great job, george.
>> we are going to miss george. We are sure that we will find a suitable replacement and we will remain safe.
>> > we have a wonderful team of mechanics, yes.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. [ applause ]
>> [indiscernible]
>> if times were better we would give you a wal-mart gift certificate, key to the county and a few other things of value. This is what we have to offer today.
>> this is wonderful, thank you very much.
>> thank you, george.
