Citizens communication is next. This item is to give residents an opportunity to add the Commissioners court on any matter not on the agenda. For up to three minutes and mona gonzalez has signed in. Ms. Gonzalez?
>> good morning.
>> good morning, buenos deas good morning, Margaret. Good morning, you look beautiful even without your big sombrero.
>> thank you. I say that by way of introduction. I’m mona gonzalez, the executive director for the river city youth foundation. To my right, chuck tilley who is the chairperson of the facilities community -- committee for our river city youth foundation and is responsible for building that beautiful center out there in the middle of dove springs. Our safe place for children and families. He is with page-sutherland-page. This morning we are here to celebrate the annual youth recognition. We do this every year. We do it because it's important to recognize the good things that children and families are doing in our community. As you know, better than perhaps anyone, you as Commissioners, you know what the challenges are with the drug abuse increasing in our neighborhood, but these are the kids that lift up the standard in the neighborhood. We are so proud of them this year. So today we are celebrating the third venue of a long week of youth recognition ceremonies. Now, Margaret, you were outstanding last Tuesday at the official ceremony of the youth recognition at st. Edward's university. Margaret graced us with her beautiful singing. She did in fact have the big charro hat, accompanied by the st. Edward's martin luther king, jr.s, the students -- st. Edward's mariachis, she graced us by singing on may the 10th, mother's day in mexico. It's especially important for us to celebrate that as well, because families are in fact a good reason to celebrate. And with us today we have not only the youth of the year, 2005, but we also have the family of the year. And the parent of the year. So joining us today, mrs. [indiscernible] and her husband hugo at work, she came here with all of the children, we want to congratulate them, they were selected out of many families as family of the year because they embodied the qualities of the family and it is in the family that the children really learn those values. We support those values. We also have petra who is the parent of the year. And her family. And we have hugo, who was selected this year as the youth leader of dove springs, that's a tremendous honor. And we have carolina, the most friendly child. We have -- she's very friendly, she will come up to you and shake your hand. Jose maya, the low tech company president. Daniel the most humorous boy for 2005. He knows a lot of good jokes and they are all clean.
>> good. [laughter]
>> and we have christian, who is the most studious setting a standard about education in his community. We have david, and christina gonzalez, they are sharing the most motivated boy and most motivated girl award for 2005.
>> great.
>> and we -- we also have April, the u.t. Intern from the university of Texas at Austin and d.d. Ford, you teach u.t. Austin and they were our interns of the year. And we have several other wonderful individuals that were selected that could not be here this morning. So on behalf of the river city youth foundation, we are delighted to be here, sharing this award. This special time of the year with you. As we do each year. As we have done for the past 21 years. Can you believe that? It is also a great opportunity that kids wanted me not to leave here without letting you know that we are taking a stand against those drugs, Margaret, in dove springs. And tonight we'll be at the commander's meeting, the a.p.d. Commander's meeting, we will be there with landlords and other members of our community because we are taking a stand, we will reclaim our community once again and part of that is this big hip hop concert, Karen put your hip hop outfit on come on over on Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 at night. We are going to have a hip hop concert, end of the school jam, may 21st at the river city youth foundation, 5209 south pleasant valley. This is designed really for teens. It is strong, strong messaging about no drugs this summer, peace, no violence, it's a stop the violence campaign and our dear friend mark gill will be the emcee. So is that enough? No, it's not. Because on June the 11th, we have our annual father's day event. We brought packages, bilingual packages for you to share the good news for that. Remember what I said earlier, families are the key. And what a better thing to do than to have a father's day parade and that's what we are going to be doing, parade and rally on June the 11th. Chuck, if you will help me to pass these out to our wonderful friends at the commission, I brought some extra for the audience. We know that you have a busy agenda today. We thank you so much for taking the time to celebrate with us. God bless you in your endeavors this year.
>> thank you very much.
>> thank you.
>> thank you.
>> good luck to all of the young participants.
>> thank very much, gracias.
>> they never forget when they come out here. Years later they will be talking about how handsome Sam was, how smart Karen was.
>> I need to meet those.
>> what a great voice Gerald has. Ron, who is that wonderful person, of course Margaret they know, you come out often, thank you. Thank you all so much.
>> good to see you all. [ applause ]
