Item 35

35 is to consider and take appropriate action on expenses and form an ongoing policy related to parking for election workers staffing the university of Texas early voting polling site.
>> yes. And as you know, every election [indiscernible] and parking is not available for our judges. We have to purchase parking permits from u.t. For our judges. And according to the Travis County policies and procedures, we must come before you to ask permission to purchase these parking permits, right, john? Did you want to talk about this?
>> this has been coming up for the last couple of years. I went ahead and drafted an amendment to the parking policy, chapter 11. And I haven't distributed that because I was just starting in discussions with gale this morning. She feels pretty comfortable with it. So I would like to suggest that perhaps next week we can amend the county code to add a section that would allow county clerk's office to purchase these without having to go through court every year from now on.
>> every election.
>> it's consistent in terms of --
>> every election. But what we would need is your approval so we could go ahead and purchase the parking permits for this election since early voting is starting soon. We need to go through the purchasing process to get the permits for this time. And if we can come back next week and revisit altering the policies and procedures, because we will be having a runoff election in June and we will be going through this again for the June election. And the November election again. It would be nice to get this on the table now and see what you feel about it.
>> move approval of the request to purchase parking tickets for election workers for this election may 7th.
>> second.
>> and have this item back on next week for consideration of the policy for elections after that date. All that is in a motion second by Commissioner Sonleitner. Commissioner Davis had to run to another commitment. Any more discussion of this motion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. This will be back on next week.
>> thank you.
>> thanks, gail.
>> gail, we know there's going to be a runoff in June.
>> oh, yeah.
