Anybody here from the Austin independent school district? Okay. We have a operation, if you would come forward, have a seat there. It reads whereas the family unit is the fundamental corner stone of african american culture, whereas the african-american is not limited to blood lines, includes church members, loved ones who have a part in shaping other's lives, whereas african-american relationships are shared by the stories of deeply felt values of longing, creativity, mutual respect, values that are rooted in african-american history and passed on as a rich heritage to new generations, whereas the Austin independent school district will celebrate its 22nd annual african-american heritage celebration on Sunday, February 13th at the delco -- new delco activity center at springdale and 183.
>> yes.
>> and whereas the theme for this year's african-american heritage celebration is "we are family" in addition to celebrating the african-american family, aisd will honor outstanding students who will be recognized in the presentation of several prestigious awards, including the w charles akins heritage -- no, w charles akins american heritage awards, that award is much better than the pronunciation by the county judge, hl gains human relations award and african-american student composition award. Three big awards for deserving students. Now therefore be it resolved that we the Travis County Commissioners court do hereby proclaim the month of February as african-american heritage month in Travis County, Texas and urge all residents to participate with the Austin independent school district in saluting the african-american family and its importance to the american culture. I move approval.
