17. Consider and take appropriate action on the following proposed personnel amendments: a. Routine personnel actions.
>> judge, my question was on page 4, under ad hoc classification changes and I see, well, chief bailey was there. There he is, standing behind there. What I have got here is short division and I’m looking for long division. Normally when we see something that involves two slots turning into one, it usually happened during the budget process or something has been brought to court in terms of a reorg. We were not privy to that, they seem to have changed the -- if you can kind of lay out the long division.

>> so that's going very well and we intend to continue that. The other position was a certified nurses assistant. And as you know, that continues to be one of our areas with the highest rate of vacancies. And that position had been vacant for a long time, so we took the salaries from those two positions and combined them for the one that we are requesting. And the one that we're requesting, although the title may be a little bit deceiving from the standpoint of what sheriff's office is doing, maybe a better working title would be that this person would be a key player in the community involvement of the sheriff's office. Some of us got to hear the sheriff talk last night about his vision for the future in terms of having direct and very strong input from the community about what law enforcement ought to be doing, and that's what this person will be doing primarily working with some other key personnel in the department to bring that about.
>> okay. So we're staying within existing resources.
>> yes.
>> we are going from the number of authorized slots will drop by one.
>> that's correct.
>> and these are both vacant positions.
>> yes.
>> okay. Thank you. Long division. That would have been helpful if there was a little memo, but there wasn't any. Extraordinarily helpful to be at sheriff hamilton's swearing in last night because you did get a bit of the context.
>> move approval.
>> second.
>> any more discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
>> thank you. We did have 17-b on the consent. Thank you very much.
