27. Consider and take appropriate action on request from zachry construction company to waive development permit fees for the sh 45 southeast project in Travis County.
>> yes. This is a -- this is a request that we received from the consortium that had been contracted to design s.h. 45 southeast between i-35 and 183. We have asked -- they have asked that we waive the fee for reviewing the construction plans for the highway. We did likewise for lone star infrastructure on state highway 130. Basically just saving the consortium and indirectly the state of Texas about $160,000 for a -- for our review fee, which is based on value of the improvement. I understand that these improvements are not only designed by zachary, but they are thoroughly reviewed by the state of Texas for the engineering end of it. So our review is really how they affect the county road system and the rest of the system coming to the highway. Pause we have already set precedence for this for another public works project by the state, we thought it would be fair treatment to give everyone the same deal.
>> what criteria did we use to grant the other requests, mr. Gieselman?
>> there was a public works project. In the interest of Travis County and the general public.
>> the public would benefit.
>> yes. These are basically tax dollars, gasoline tax dollars. Basically transferred. We are saving the taxpayers' money by doing this.
>> in this particular instance we did not have to pay for right-of-way which is quite difference from the 130 project where we had a $90 million entrance fee.
>> for those reasons you recommend approval.
>> for those reason that's I agree.
>> joe.
>> motion to approve by Commissioner Gomez, I second. Commissioner Davis?
>> yes, sir. Joe, the relationship to s.h. 45 southeast, has it -- I guess as far as the public is concerned, those that may not be aware, that particular juncture will intersect also into s.h. 130 so there is a relationship as far as what we did for s.h. 130 and also with this s.h. 45 southeast project as it ties into s.h. 130. Is that still the intent of the --
>> yes. They will connect.
>> they will connect.
>> yes, they will.
>> I think the public needs to know what that is as far as this particular project is concerned. Thank you.
>> we do have representatives here from zachary construction. Any reason why we could not approve this item?
>> -- why we should not approve this item?
>> no, sir.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Thank you very much.
>> thank you.
