Travis County Commissioners Court
December 21, 2004
Item 1
Number 1 is a public hearing to receive comments regarding the granting of
a license agreement to lone star infrastructure to provide an area within
the southeast metro park for temporary use to install and operate a global
positioning system base station. [ inaudible ] all in favor, that passes by
unanimous vote.
>> good morning. Lone star infrastructure, which is the contractor
for highway 130 has asked to temporarily use a small piece of southeast metro
park to place a base station for a global positioning system. This is the
system they use for the survey of the highway. And because the park is on
a bluff that overlooks much of eastern Travis County, it was an ideal position
for them to have. This is just a temporary location, but we are by state law
to have a public hearing any time we use the park for a non-park purpose.
We have advertised appropriately in newspapers three consecutive times within
the last 30 days, and the purpose of today's public hearing is to receive
any public testimony with regard to the temporary use of the park.
>> and we believe this is a good thing for Travis County
residents?
>> yes, I believe it does help move this project through.
>> any reason that a government such as Travis County should
object?
>> I might add that the lsi is renting the space and will
pay us for the use of the space. They have paid for the advertising of the
public notice.
>> would anyone like to give testimony during this public
hearing? If no, please come forward.
>> move the public hearing be closed.
>> second.
>> all in favor? That passes unanimously. This will be action
item number 21 on today's agenda.
