17, consider and take appropriate action on request to approve a variance
to chapter 82.401 c 3, standards for construction of streets and drainage
in subdivisions to allow the acceptance of dedication of a portion of street
and drainage facilities in river place section 16, a subdivision in precinct
3. This looked pretty straightforward, but it is a variance so I thought it
would be a good idea for us to lay it out.
>> that's good. This is about a 6/10-mile stretch of roadway
that is in an otherwise large subdivision. But this particular stretch of
road is done, it's inspected, it's met all the standards. Whereas the rest
of the subdivision is still developing including sidewalks that are on the
individual lots. And so rather than wait for all those lots to be built on
and the sidewalks to be finished, we're asking the court to go ahead and accept
this 6/10-mile section of roadway so that it can become under the sheriff's
department law enforcememt officer for traffic regulations. It can also be
accepted for ongoing maintenance so that it doesn't deteriorate in the interim.
And I guess we're making this recommendation in part because it's such a long
stretch of roadway currently being used and we believe it ought to be brought
on to the system.
>> so the part that represents the variance is what?
>> if you look at the attached map in your backup there,
going from the upper right-hand corner, you see a series of lots on to what's
called big view drive. At the end of those lots, the lot platted subdivision
is the beginning of a stretch of the 6/10-mile. It goes from that point all
the way down to where it picks up again in lots in that subdivision. That
middle section is the 6/10-mile section of roadway that we're asking for the
variance on. The portion in the upper right-hand corner, that subdivision
and that piece of big sky is already accepted for maintenance. So what we're
trying to do is get the next section added to it.
