Number 6 is to consider and take appropriate action on the following: 6-a
is declaration of Tuesday, October 26th, 2004 as Travis County county employee
recognition day. And that's today, and I move approval.

6-b is presentation of certificates of service pens to certain employees for
20, 25 and 30 years of service to Travis County.
>> good morning, judge and members of the court. I’m linda
Moore smith director of human resours. This is always an exiting day for the
human resources department. We're able this time to celebrate the 12th annual
employee recognition for all of the employees who have dedicated a great number
of years of service to Travis County. What we have before you today is some
57 employees who have earned 20, 25 and 30 years of service. But that does
not include the 458 employees who have service ranging from five years to
15 years that are in their departments and receiving recognition at the department
level. One of the things that we always like to do is calculate the number
of years that those individuals who are coming before you today have collectively
served the county. And this year we have a total of 1,245 years of service
to be represented in the 57 employees that will be recognized with pens of
service as well as certificates today. Presenting the certificate as well
as the pens are carolyn stidel, we all know Karen, and carlos scales, both
who are with the employee relations unit in the hr department. So with that,
Karen, i'll turn it over to you.

if you will come up this way, and don't rush because phillip is going to try
to get your picture and I know some of the departments have people who want
to take your picture. Starting with, we have three 30 year honorees. The first
one is marjorie bell from county clerk. [ applause ]
