Road District #3
Good afternoon, let's call to order the northwest Travis County road district number 3. Otherwise known as the gold deng triangle. 1. Approve payment of claims and authorize county treasurer to invest road district funds.
>> there are claims but no investments.
>> move.
>> second.
>> that is that the claim get paid. That is by unanimous vote with director doherty temporarily away, but he is en route. 2. Discuss fy05 proposed road district budget and tax rate, and take appropriate action.
>> the easiest budget we will have to deal with this year.
>> this is the time of year that you approve the maximum tax rate and the bupght. The road district is solely proposed of debt service and related fees. The taxable value decreased 6%. There are 183 accounts. The value has gone down from 368 million to 346 million related to the decrease in commercial values throughout the county. Last year the -- the board approved utilization -- utilizing a part of the beginning fund balance. Your financial advisor is suggesting that it would be prudent to do that again and to keep the tax rate lower than it otherwise would be and the proposal is to -- to set the tax rate at 18 cents, which would be an increase from the current tax rate of 16.60, an increase in tax rate, a decrease in value. You -- you must set a proposed debt service tax rate before a publication occurs in the paper. That's why it's before you today. Then at your meeting on September 28th, you would be asked to finally adopt the tax rate and adopt the budget and you have a draft budget before you.
>> so the recommendation is to set a proposed tax rate of 18 cents.
>> yes.
>> per $100 valuation.
>> that would be my motion.
>> any more discussion?
>> christian do we need to give signals related to the use of 37571 from ending fund balance to -- that that's part of -- part of budgetary --
>> that is a part of setting the tax rate at 18 cents. You go into the fund balance by $37,000.
>> that would be part of my motion. That that is part of the assumption of the .18 maximum rate.
>> as said within the memo on page 2. All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
>> second.
>> second, yeah.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
