Number 10, consider and take appropriate action on request to authorize fees for services provided by the council's he willing and education services department.
>> hi, carol.
>> good morning, judge, Commissioners. I'm carol copeland, director of counseling education services department, and I'm here today to request approval for.
>> dollars for the juvenile anger management program. And that is an eight-hour class that c.e.s. Has been providing for youthful probation for the past five years, however, for f.y. '05, juvenile probation has determined they need to use that funding internally for some programming they are going to do. So what c.e.s. Is asking if we can go ahead and attach a fee to this program and continue it and offer it to other juvenile justice entities in the community such as municipal court, the justice of the peace courts, which we are already providing classes for those courts as well. And it has been determined there's a need for this type of class in the community. There's not anger management classes out there. A lot of them that -- these courts could access. So we feel comfortable that we would bring in that revenue. It's a little over 2,000 less than what we were getting from juvenile probation.
>> is this fee consistent with some of the other fees that we are charging for similar types of courses within your --
>> yes, Commissioner. It's consistent with -- actually one of the classes that these courts access is a youth misdemeanor 1 class and the class fee is $50.
>> do the judges have any opinion about the appropriateness of this fee?
>> we have not really gotten a lot of feedback from the judges on the -- you know, misdemeanor 1 and 2 that they have been accessing. Of course, all judges can waive the fees for a client if they tell them they cannot afford it. They can waive it totally. Then -- we also can reduce the fee on our sliding fee scale once they get to us. Sometimes they don't think to mention it to the judge. So we do have those two ways of reducing that fee in play.
>> we believe this is -- these classes are important, though.
>> yes, sir, there is a need. As part of the task force in hearing the [indiscernible] out there, there is a need for this type of class. And I'm looking forward to announcing it today at the family violence task force meeting if it does get approved that we're going to be offering this.
>> move approval.
>> second.
>> discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. You'll keep us posted out?
>> yes, sir. Thank you.
>> thank you.
