Travis County Commissioners Court
July 13, 2004
Item 27
27. Consider and take appropriate action with an interlocal agreement with the city of lago vista related to the review and inspection of subdivisions within the extraterritorial jurisdiction in come phraoeupbgs with house bill 1445 and house bill 1204.
>> I notice the court is familiar with house bill 1445, but for the public, this is state law that requires the counties and cities look at how they review subdivisions within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the municipality. We have until January 1st of 2006 to enter into interlocal agreements with every municipality to determine how we will jointly review subdivisions within the e.t.j. We have an agreement with the city of Austin, our central city, and we are still working out some of the provisions of that interlocal agreement. That doesn't preclude us from moving forward with entering into interlocal agreements with the other some 22 municipalities within Travis County. We have successfully reached an agreement with the city of lago vista and I believe there is another item on the agenda with the city of Jonestown. Similar to the way we have done the interlocal with the city of Austin, this interlocal agreement calls for a single code to be developed between the city of lago vista and Travis County by January 1st of 2006. It does provide for a single office. That single office will be located at Travis County. Which is our goal for all of the 22 cities so that we have one central place county-wide. So we have agreed to proceed on with a single office so both the city and the county retain their authority for reviewing subdivisions within the e.t.j. Of lago vista, but we will do it jointly, send one set of comments to the applicant, we will have one fee. Very similar to the way we have approached the city of Austin on this same issue.
>> but we still need to get with the city of lago vista and work out that code.
>> that's right.
>> is this like the equivalent of us picking option 4 in terms of setting up our course of work with the city of Austin?
>> yes. This is option 4 under the law.
>> second [inaudible].
>> I move approval.
>> of 27?
>> of 27.
>> second.
>> I mean can we do 28? Because 28 is the same thing.
>> not right now.
>> then 27.
>> discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
