Travis County Commissioners Court
July 13, 2004
Item 23
23 consider and take appropriate action of on a construction agreement and
plat for recording in precinct 1; presidential meadows, section 2. Municipal
district number 1.
>> carol, this will be the same question when we get back
to item number 22. Am I remembering that we were thinking about allowing concrete
streets to occur in this subdivision? And if so, what were the final results?
I couldn't tell from the backup where we were going on this. I do understand
it meets Travis County standards. I’m cool with that. I understand it meets
whatever manor has to have done, I’m cool with that, I was wondering where
do we go --
>> this -- Commissioners, fred dennick, t.n.r. This was the
project we discussed that on, but they did not go that way.
>> not a problem. I just wanted to get clarity on what we
did.
>> but there's still a lot of interest in that project.
>> this is correct.
>> and this is something I think we're definitely going to
look at as far as those particular subdivisions electing to go that route.
>> this is true, Commissioners, yes.
>> what was the reasoning for -- because I know there was
a lot of interest there. Obviously that's a lot more -- I mean concrete is
a lot more expensive. Was that the deciding factor?
>> I’m not sure that I can accurately tell what you the developer
decided, but it had to do with cost. Although it was not entirely related
simply to the additional cost of concrete over flexible pavement. There were
other issues, constraints that we were putting on them that had as much to
do with it as that differential in cost. Because the cost differential out
there is decreasing because of the -- virtually all of 130 is going to be
concrete rigid pavement so. The cost out there is dropping rapidly in that
particular neck of the woods.
>> I know there was going to be a lot of oversite involved
in terms -- oversight involved in making sure it was done that way, inspections,
et cetera. I was really more curious whether we would have a pilot here because
I have a great deal of interest anything in eastern Travis County and I think
with the prices coming down with sh 130, prices will be copping down.
>> move approval of 23.
>> second.
>> discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
