Executive Session Items

View captioned video.

We have come to the executive session items and in my view we do not need item number 28. 29 is to receive legal briefing and take appropriate action on ferguson and tuscany way extension project. If this was up to me, there was no update on it. Let's just indicate for the record we're still working on it. But let's announce it anyway. I don't know what tom has. If we take that up, it will be under the consultation with attorney exception. And if there's nothing to report, we won't call that up and we will indicate it when we get back to court. There are three added items that we need to discuss in executive session. First is a-1, this is a briefing from county attorney and take appropriate action concerning request for extension of administrative leave for a precinct 2 con strabl's exee. That's under the personnel matters and consultation with attorney exception to the open meetings act. A-2 is to receive briefing from county attorney and take appropriate action concerning request for extension of administrative leave for juvenile board employee. That's the that's the consultation with attorney exception to the open meetings act and personnel matters exception to the open meetings act. Judge murr has requested that we take up a-2 up lf 11:00 latter. If we do need her we can delay it as much as we can until we need her. But we will announce it now realizing she may get here at about 11:30. If I could get my office to let judge murr know that. And number a-3, receive briefing from county attorney and take appropriate action on request to authorize medical examiner to issue a permit for burial or cremation, no known legal next of kin, and in this item, if the medical examiner is not the appropriate official, then Travis County government can be read into that, right?
>> [inaudible - no mic]
>> okay. And that will be under the consultation with attorney exception to the open meetings act also. We will discuss these matters in executive session --
>> and judge, you will not need 29. I just called tom and he said he accident have anything. -- owe he doesn't have anything.
>> we will not call up the tuscany item number 29 for discussion. We'll discuss those in executive session and return to open court before make taibing any action. Before taking any action.

we have just returned from executive session. Where we discussed the following items: a-1, I move that we authorize the extension of administrative leave for one day, namely June 30th of '04. Discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. On number 2, move that we authorize extension of administrative leave for the juvenile board employee and have this matter back on the agenda next Tuesday. With the Friday discussion planned, we ought to know specifically what time we're looking at next Tuesday, so we can provide a bit more specificity. And a on motion? Seconded by Commissioner Gomez. Discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. And that will be July 13th. Item a-3, which involves a cadaver at a funeral home in Travis County, I move that we authorize the following: one, a communication with the friend/partner of the deceased with a question whether the friend or partner would like for the county to facilitate the release of the deceased for a proper burial. And if that is not possible, then ascertain whether the county can take the money available, supplement that amount for a burial by Travis County under applicable statutes. And the second part presumes that neither the friend/partner nor the estate has the financial ability to take care of a private burial or funeral. Any discussion? By the way, I don't know how -- if this matter can be delayed long enough for a report back next Tuesday before action is taken, is that right, john? So we will try to work with that schedule. And if not, then --
>> I would assume you're giving us direction that if all of the answers come out regarding the splem al money or regarding the county involvement and the burial, if all those answers come about, your expectation is that the burial could occur?
>> is that okay?
>> I think the body has been there like a month or so.
>> oh, really? Okay.
>> it's been longer than usual. Is that the understanding? All right. All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. We did not discuss the other matters, specifically the one dealing with tuscany/ferguson. We'll have that one back on the court's agenda next week.
