Item 19

View captioned video.

19 is to consider and take appropriate action on service contract between the horns by bend utility company and the kennedy ridge water supply corporation to facilitate the completion of two water grants from the office of rural community affairs.
>> i'd like to number one say to the folks who are having an opportunity to watch this out at kennedy ridge to thank them for the hard work on the programs that they have had to go under, step meaning the small town environmental program, which is actually grant money that is made available through the state of Texas to correct a water service problem -- we're dealing with a clone I can't, and that is a subdivision that does not have the water and wastewater capabilities to live the kind of quality of life, living that we just sometimes take for granted. And it's just been a real tremendous push. Actually, this particular issue was bringing to closure a very serious situation whereby money has been set aside, we've gone through three phases of this. Step one, step two and step three. And those steps mean small town environmental program. And so really we're now getting ready to have a groundbreaking ceremony, and anybody who is willing to come to that, it would bring the kennedy ridge colonia situation to closure. And step one of this particular grant that was awarded, it's basically dealing with the wastewater. And of course step two and step three, step two is the water portion of the grant. And step three is the fire plugs. So all three of these things have basically been worked out, and it never could have happened without, of course, the residents being made available and made themselves available as far as producing sweat equity labor. Of course, the tnr staff, especially belinda, nicole and others. Tom knuckles has been a trojan here on this, judge. Lumas Austin. The hornsby bend utility company. Of course, the kennedy water supply corporation. Travis County as a whole, all working together to make the colonias situation finally disappear. So it is a great day for Travis County all across the board it looks like today. And again, this is something that I want to thank my colleagues, thank everyone who has had a role in this. And folks were here to want to testify to let you know that they appreciate the court's dealing with this particular colonias and resolving it. So now we have resolved it. And if there's anything that i've left out, belinda, did you want to say anything on this? But it really been a tough struggle, but it's come to a closure, it's come to an end. So we want to make sure everyone is able to come out to the groundbreaking ceremonies that will be held sometime in June -- sometime rather in July. I don't know exactly when. When we finally commence the last phase of this project, who has been a big supportive cast in this. And again, they would like to offer the office of rural community affairs would like to use this particular subdivision, colonias subdivision as a model to also help alleviate colonias in the entire state of Texas. So again, it's a great tribute to things that we could work so hard on. And I also thank my staff. So I move approval of item number 19.
>> second.
>> discussion?
>> I would just say that staff recommends your approval of this contract. That the purpose in Travis County signing this, as I understand it, is simply because some grant funds that we received will go into the project that is primarily a contract between the kennedy ridge water supply corporation and hornsby bend that makes the project work.
>> all in favor of the motion? That passes by unanimous vote. Thank you very much.
