Item 36

View captioned video.

36, consider and take appropriate action on request to declare 50 computer systems as surplus property and donate property to the fishermen ministries of Austin pursuant to section 263.151 and 263.152-a, 4 b of the Texas local government code.
>> we received a request from the fishermen ministries for these 50 computer systems. As you will recall, we did not have this authority in previous years. However, last legislative session the purchasing act was changed to allow us to donate property to charitable and civic organizations if it served a public intent, if they relieved us from some of the cost that it cost us to try to sell it by sealed bidder auction and if the court approved it. So this is really the first time that we've come to the Commissioners court to ask if we can donate this type of property under the new statute. As you also recall, we came to you several months ago with asset recovery program with dale. None of the computers that we are requesting be donated has the asset recovery service tied to it at this point. So we would not be violating any sort of agreement that we have with dell in relation to these 50 computers. Ms. Mary williams with the fishermen ministries of Austin is here if you have any questions of her, and I believe you all saw the e-mail from p.b.o. Where we discussed some of the issues. And hopefully those were addressed to everyone's satisfaction. If not, we can discuss it today.
>> is anyone needing to get any further questions or ms. Williams in terms of any questions of ms. Williams? She is here in case we have questions.
>> I guess this is as is? Appears as is?
>> yes, we -- as just part of our regular disposal process, we remove all of our software, all of our information from the computer systems. She is looking at other grants to get software to be able to run the programs.
>> one of the things that came up in that discussion was whether it gives an advantage or disadvantage to some of our other social service agencies and usually they are being funded to get new stuff, so this is not really competing with any of those social service agencies in terms of getting a leg up on anything.
>> like to move approval.
>> I will go ahead and second that. Any further discussion on item 36? Everything in legal cool? All in favor say aye. That passes by unanimous vote.
>> thank you. Thank you, ms. Williams.
>> thank you susan and travis for working through on this.
