Number 7 is a public hearing to discuss request to close northeast metropolitan park from June 24 through June 30, 2004 during the 2004 u.s. Youth soccer national championship series-southern region.
>> move the public hearing be open.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Charles byrd and joe pay ton are going to walk us through what the meaning of this posting is.
>> good morning, judge, Commissioners. Charles burg. What we're here for today is the Travis County has the honor of houfting the southeast -- hosting the southeast regional soccer tournament for youth. I’m going to have joe payton give us the exact term. But they moved this tournament around to different states. It's a quarterfinal playoff. Is that correct?
>> yes, there's four regions of the united states and this is our southern region is one of those and this leads to the national championships.
>> and so we are hosting this, the 24th through the 30th of this month, and this public hearing is to allow us to close the park to vehicle traffic. The general public. General public still can make -- still access the park. They are going to be able to get on public transportation either at the h.e.b. In Pflugerville or at the high school there in Pflugerville. No charge. They can still come into the park no charge. But what the soccer organizers are trying to do is allow parking to the event folks, the folks that the -- the coaches, the players, the referees. There's a lot that goes into hosting 192 teams from I think 13 different states. And what they are trying to do is get the folks that are directly involved with the event parking closer to the venue. General public can pick up public transportation within the city of Pflugerville, which is only about five minutes from the park. Do you have anything else you want to --
>> I mean this is a wonderful event for the county and the city of Austin, Pflugerville, Round Rock and all the community. We are using 47 hotel properties. The estimated revenue into our Travis County is about $10 million. So we're great to have that opportunity to host this and I appreciate all your support, especially Karen Sonleitner, thank you for all your assistance over the years with this facility. But all of you have really I know supported this project and this is a great event. And it's -- by you all's support we're able to do this.
>> would anyone like to give testimony during this public hearing? If so, please come forward.
>> move the public hearing be closed.
>> second.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. This is the action item number 16 on today's agenda.
