18. Approve contract award for water treatment services, ifb no. B040070jt, to the low bidder, scale free company.
>> good morning, cyd grimes, purchasing agent.
>> Commissioner Sonleitner had a question for you.
>> this one is unusual in that it is somebody that has a tax lien. We don't do business with vendors who owe the county money. And my question is, is 100% of what we would have paid this company going toward the satisfaction of the tax debt? That was not clear from the -- from the backup?
>> this is what we call an annual term contract. It's a one-year contract with three options to renew. As long as the contractor is doing the work satisfactorily, we usually renew those. This contract is valued at about $12,700 a year. So in two years, he will have paid off his tax debt and then there will be additional two more years on the contract. So --
>> so 100%.
>> > 100% will go towards the -- the first 100% of payments to him will go towards his tax debt.
>> and he understands that? The company understands that?
>> yes. He was glad to get this and if you will notice he was substantially lower than some of the other bidders and f.m. Is very aware of the situation so they will be working closely with him to make sure that he's providing them services on a timely basis. This is our water scaling that we do periodically, it's preventive maintenance.
>> based on that assurance, I would move approval.
>> second.
>> thank you.
>> any discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Jim connally was here.
>> he says if you want to get information on that, it may be better to take it on an executive session item.
>> I don't know whether I need advice or not. I need an explanation, though.
>> he has that explanation ready for you.
>> that item is next.
>> 25?
>> on 27.
>> oh, because we skipped -- are we doing all of this together?
>> I assume we need dan down here on those. I don't know -- 25 looks pretty simple, except I don't have the [indiscernible] anybody know that?
