Number 2 -- did I say that passes by unanimous vote? 2. Approve proclamation recognizing April 18 through 24, 2004 as "week of the young child" in Travis County. It reads whereas a society is judged not by how it serves its most powerful members, but by how it protects its most vulnerable members. When we help our children, we provide for their future and our future as well. Whereas every child has a right to live in good health, to dwrow in a safe -- to grow in a safe environment, receive proper health and protection and develop a positive self image, whereas April 18th through 4th is observed as national week of the young child, this year's theme is take a walk in our shoes. Planned activities include stores from children, parents, child care teachers on what it is like to take a walk in their children's shoes. Right? Whereas we appreciate the efforts of professionals who willingly extend a hand to children and speak up for those who cannot voice their own needs and concerns. Whereas we must remember that we have much work to do to protect the best interests of our children. Now, therefore, be it resolved that we as members of the Travis County Commissioners court do here by designate April 18th through 24th, 2004, as national week of the young child in Travis County, and encourage all citizens to renew their commitment to protect the interests of all children at all times and all situations, I move approval.
