25. Consider and take appropriate action on proposed cell phone policy tore Travis County.
>> linda. Linda.
>> what is this you are asking us to do today, mr. Hobby?
>> bennie hobby, emergency services coordinator and also chairperson of the cell phone committee so I’m here today representing that committee. And we would like to request your approval to send out a cover letter which you should have attached to the back jerusalem as well as the cell phone policy to the official heads in the county and allow them a chance to rethis as we reviewed it at the last work session and allow them to provide us back comments. And you will see in the letter that I have proposed that I send out that we give them a two-week deadline because, as I mentioned to you, it is our desire that if this does go forward, that we try to accommodate the '05 budget process. So in order to do that, it's timely that we require they respond back to us in an efficient manner. And based on those comments, we will then meet again as a committee. The committee is still standing until you tell us not to stand anymore, and try to receive back those comments to see if there is any changes or adjustments that need to be made. So we just feel like we need to go to the next step now and it's an important step for us.
>> did you seek authorization to send out the letter that's a part of your backup, which asks for comments to you and the committee by April 21st.
>> yes, sir.
>> 5bg p.m.
>> yes, sir.
>> second.
>> that's my motion. Seconded by Commissioner Gomez. Any more discussion?
>> just a quick question. I noticed when I got back to my 237 e-mails that there was a pretty interesting dialogue already started with christian about where is this headed and questions it raised and seemed to be, you know, a mini novel about said topic. And I’m just wondering where is that going to fit in in terms of feedback that has already come in before the letter's even got out?
>> well, with christian, he and i-his e-mail to me indicated we sat down for a good 45 minutes and we had good discussion. But it's those kind of comments that we are looking for that we hope to get back because that will make us examine every aspect of this to see if there are any type of changes or improvements. Our intent is come up with an improved cell phone policy tore the county. When I wrote back to christian, it was short because I had already visited with christian, but as he knows, I respect his comments and I will respect any comment that's received by any additional or department head.
>> okay. Okay.
>> any more discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
>> thank you.
>> thank you very much. We'll see you soon.
