Number 3 is to approve resolution honoring lindy raesz, race like a race car.
>> lindy raesz on her retirement from the information and telecommunications systems department after more than 20 years of service to Travis County. And shall I read the proclamation?
>> yes, sir.
>> it reads: whereas service, dedication, leadersh whereas lindy raesz, aka linda barton, has been in service to the employees and residents of @ravis county through her performance in the information and telecommunications systems department, whereas lindy is known and respected by her peers and customers of Travis County for her commitment to service and her dedication to duties. Whereas lindy created the original criminal justice system, cjs, at a minimal cost, which served Travis County effectively for more than two decades. Whereas lindy was instrumental in the design of the Texas department of public safety statewide criminal history database. And its integration with the cjs. Whereas lindy's successful efforts guiding the criminal justice process evaluation team, a forerunner to ijs, established a standard for future team efforts, whereas lindy represented Travis County with outstanding contributions to the state while serving on the board of the Texas criminal justice information users group. Whereas lindy's unique leadership skills have earned her the respect, loyalty and deep appreciation and affection of those who have worked under her supervision. And whereas she is retiring from Travis County service after developing numerous benefits for systems, such as the child abuse petition tracking system, services for the deaf system, and the juvenile employee training system. Now therefore be it resolved that the Travis County Commissioners court of the state of Texas gratefully recognizes the contributions of lindy raesz to residents and employees of Travis County and wishes her continuing success in her much deserved retirement. And I move approval.
>> second.
>> good morning. I've been before Commissioners court many times, but even though i've worked with officials on all levels and county, state, city, the only time I get nervous is when I come to Commissioners court. So i've written down what I want to say.
>> you only have a million people out there watching you. [ laughter ]
>> I think the greatest thing a person can say when they retired is they're prawd proud of the work they've done. And -- but I couldn't have accomplished any of the things I did if it hadn't been for my fellow employees at Travis County: the cjs program, which was originally funded by a grant, will be 25 years old on Thursday. I would like to thank every single person who is responsible for its success over the years, but I have time to mention only a few. Thank you to anne des, county court administrator to fight for the grant and jean draper who made sure we got it. Thank you to the Commissioners court who supported the grant wholeheartedly, especially county judge mike renfro and Commissioners anne richards and richard moya. The original grant was for a system for the county court.
>> thank you to judge jon wisser whose office was the first, and mary anne louise guerra, who was the first user. And then we expanded into the clerks and county attorney's offices. Thank you to the county clerk and the criminal supervisor for their patience and to county attorney jim mcmeasure try whose door was always open meetings act to me. It was someone in the county attorney's office who when we were faced with a lack of personnel, would always answer, we'll do it. Thank you. The only other cjs grant employee was debbie. Thank you for believing in the vision. And thank you to tom cocus for introducing debbie and I to online programming and helping our small two person team by writing the original batch programs for the court docket printouts. Many programmers have since worked on the cjs project and are remembered fondly. But I would especially like to thank the programming team who in 19 '91 worked on the jp portion of cjs, completing the project in nine months on time and under bucket. Judy smith, david worked 30 days without a day off and with no overtime pay or comp time after contract personnel were pulled for another project. Thank you to all the members of the criminal justice process evaluation team, cj pet and especially carol darby, who kept the team together at the end and to carol who spent many hours rewriting and typing the final report. A big thanks to former data processing manager bobby rusk, who as a manager always did what was right and just and who taught me to be a supervisor. And to woody smith, who is my supervisor, had unfailing confidence in me. And as for my work at Travis County and pc programming, I would like to thank andy col vert in dro, all my friends at deaf services and david, who introduced pc programming to its. I had hoped to say cjs is gone and now so am i, but cjs isn't gone, but I am. [ laughter ] three years ago I took up tennis, so now instead of see you in court, I will say see you on the courts. Again, I would like to thank everybody at Travis County who i've worked with and who supported me over the years. And I love you all and I will miss you, but I will be back. Visiting only. Sorry.
>> lindy has been the backbone to keep the system running for us for a long time, so I guess this maybe is appropriate that she retires the same year we're going to retire that one. So thank you very much.
>> thank you.
>> thank you, lindy.
>> the list of county officials was kind of like a slay ride through history. It took me back to my teen days. [ laughter ]
>> I hope we're trying to change the county culture for where it's a lot more efficient. We really appreciate your contribution. We hate to see you good. We will miss you.
>> I will miss everybody at Travis County.
>> you know, ms. Velasquez is quite a tennis player herself.
>> oh really? [ laughter ]
>> make sure it's after hours. [ laughter ]
>> anything further from the court. All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
