Citizens Communication
Citizens communication is next. And one citizen has signed in, phillip agee. This gives residents an opportunity to address the court on any matter not on the agenda for up to three minutes. How you doing.
>> good morning.
>> morning.
>> I am here today this morning to thank mr. Ron Davis at the Commissioners court for arranging for me and my crew to come in and talk about the inmates that are having so many problems. I would like to thank about Ron Davis for putting the committee together for us. And we really did accomplish something. He listens to the voice of Austin, the community, and I appreciate this because we didn't know which way to go. And when I was up here that Tuesday, he invited me and my group to call his office and make arrangements to see what he could do as he said before, the county can only go so far and then we have to reach out to like mrs. Donna dukes' office, the sheriff's office, mr. Eddie rodriguez, whoever is a representative of the state to talk to them about our inmate loved ones. We did make some accomplishments, like I said. I'd like to thank mr. Sam Biscoe's office for participating in it. Mr. Submitted was there -- mr. Smith was there to address consumer problems. And we had some our group members did have big problems in the consumer area. And I would like to thank you, judge Biscoe, for mr. Smith. And I also want to talk about the problems that the inmates are having. Now, this is my son, and he's having a real big time, hard time. We are parents of concerned inmates being abused in Texas prisons, jails and youth facilities. This is our group. And the problems that I feel, and me and my group feel that the inmates are having, is with that disciplinary court that holds them. It's something like a blockage. When they go through that court, it's like being sentenced all overgain for some type of -- something that they did on the inside. And they have this court that the inmate has to go through, which is ran by guards and wardens. And they are the ones that put the complaints on the inmates, and the inmates have to have another inmate to testify for him. [ buzzer sounds ] if the end result is when they finish with this, the parole board look at what has been written up by the warden on the inmate, and they will deny automatically, just deny the inmate parole. I think that that needs to be addressed and looked into because as we know, we have so many people at that lower level of positioning, job positioning, that we'll -- that's corrupted. We'll find lies own mates, we'll do -- they'll do different corruptive things to them in order to hold them in prison. We know that there is a lot of racism in the prisons. We know that there's a lot of corruption in the prison, and so as out here in the world. So if we could get someone to investigate that, you know, in that area, to help these inmates to, you know, be placed on parole, especially for those that haven't did hard-core serious crimes, you know what I'm saying? Hard-core like murderers and killers, rapists, and those type of people I notice on the television, they're always released, but the inmates that doesn't have, you know, real hard-core crimes, they have problems getting out, out of prison. So I would appreciate it if we all could join together and work with other heads like the governor rick perry's office, senator barrientos, the state representatives of the -- if we could all join together and come up with something, maybe we can end this problem of inmate abuse.
>> thank you.
>> you're welcome, sir. And thank you all. Thank you mr. Davis.
>> thank you.
>> would anyone else like to address the court on any matter not on the agenda under citizens communication? If so, please come forward.
