Item 2
Number 2 is to approve proclamation declaring March 2004 as purchasing month in Travis County.
>> judge, I guess you will be here to accept it. Whereas the national institute of governmental purchasing, nigp, has declared March 2004 to be purchasing month nationwide, whereas the public purchasing and materials management profession works to build better business and government, whereas the employees of the Travis County purchasing and inventory management office dedicate themselves to fair and responsible purchasing practices, whereas these staff members are committed to performing at the highest level of their profession to efficiently utilize precious tax dollars for the benefit of Travis County taxpayers; whereas these staff members contribute to the city and state state's economic success while upholding the laws of the great state of Texas. Whereas they encourage activities to promote education and certification in purchasing, whereas these staff members dutifully fulfill an obligation to extend the opportunities to all members of the business community by engaging in fair and end exclusive purchasing practices and whereas these staff members are dedicated to the inclusion of women and minority owned businesses in the procurement process while promoting and fostering public confidence in the integrity of the process. Now, therefore, let it be known that we the members of the Travis County Commissioners court here by proclaim March 2004 as public purchasing month in Travis County and I would move approval.

My name is frank holder, assistant purchasing agent, on behalf of cyd grimes the county purchasing agent, all of those in the purchasing office, thank you very much for considering this proclamation this morning. Just to let you know that you have a very dedicated group of people upstairs in the purchasing office. You have a lot of folks who are in the commodities buying business. Buying professional services, buying construction. You also have a -- three folks over in the warehouse who are very much a part of the purchasing process and they go through a owe through a lot of work, very hard work every day doing very good things for the county. And holding us all up is a very extraordinary administrative staff in purchasing. So collectively we put it altogether and we try to do the best we can for the county and be very good stewards of taxpayer money and spend it as wisely as we can. We appreciate the court's support in doing that throughout the year.
>> we appreciate you as well.
