Item 4
4. Approve proclamation welcoming evelyn mccune, national president of the ladies auxiliary vfw, to Travis County the week of January 21 through 25, 2004 for the annual mid-winter meeting.
>> thank you, judge. We have joining us this morning June bell and peggy mcgown who is actually going to make ms. Mccune welcome when she arrives this Thursday. We are going to be in work session unfortunately during that general assembly. We want to get a welcoming resolution so they can take this to her later this week. Whereas she was elected national president of the lady's auxiliary to the vfw in 2003. Since the organization was founded in 1914, the members have conducted programs demonstrating their love for veterans, kindness towards those in need and the desire for peace so that no more of americas sons and daughters would have to go to war. And under mrs. Mccune's leadership, the 2003-2004 year will be no different. Whereas the ladies auxiliary vfw will continue to do all it can for veterans and for those serving on the front lines in the war against terrorism and whereas members will continue to donate to operation uplink connecting service members with their families. Now, therefore be it resolved that the Travis County Commissioners court welcome evelyn mccune and the ladies auxiliary to the veterans of foreign wars to the united states to Travis Countynd we wish them much success during their annual mid winter meeting. I move approval.
