Item 24

24 is to consider and take appropriate action on certain social services contracts and authorize county purchasing agent to sign all contracts on behalf of the Commissioners court. My statement early on was that Commissioner Daugherty and I did meet with some of the representatives from the social services agencies yesterday, along with county staff, and there does seem to be a few issues that we need to work through. The contracts that we were looking at approving expire the end of this month and so the second part of this in addition to asking for a postponement of the contracts action until the end of January would be basically for us to approve the old organization. And steven had a list of issues that we needed to resolve. And at some point between now and the end of January, the auditor, purchasing need to be brought into the discussions also, to the extent the members of the court in a meeting to help out, I would encourage that involvement also. Is that consistent with what we're talking about?
>> that will do after I probably hold a meeting after the first of January with all of the social services contract vendors directors as well as their cfo's.
>> the good thing is we were trying to move into a direction where it's accountability. That's the good thing. That's the motion, to do both of those. I'll holdover authorization to negotiate, maybe try to get back to the court I would say give us a week to play with before the holdover provision expires.
>> okay.
>> I have that original?
>> I left one on your desk.
>> what's the number?
>> oh, gosh, [ laughter ]
>> I have 42.
>> we'll attach that list of 42 agencies to this order.
>> it's less than 54. [ laughter ]
>> any more discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Thanks very much.
