Item 13
Now, number 13. Consider and take appropriate action on the following: a. Proposed Travis County wellness program; and. B. Letter to county employees from the Commissioners court on wellness program. Have we all had a chance to read the letter? The revised letter to employees in the -- in the lime green color?
>> yeah, pretty much.
>> yeah.
>> any changes to recommend?
>> I think it covers --
>> it covers about everything that we asked for.
>> that's why I move approval.
>> second.
>> any more discussion of 13 b? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Now let's discuss a further. You all didn't have anything to say on b, right.
>> no, sir.
>> okay.
>> a if.
>> anything further on a? Have we said it all?
>> talk about the --
>> health care?
>> we -- we will be meeng with the committee on Thursday one ever our regular meetings. One of the issues that we wanted to be able to bring up is the health clinic. We developed some preliminary figure that's we will share with the committee in order to be able to bring it back to the court and discuss in detail what the cost -- what the cost and setup costs and ongoing operating annual costs would be. So we will look to bring that back to court along with the survey results, I think cindy has got some information on the survey that's still out for the -- for the employee responses, but she does have some preliminary information if you would like to hear it.
>> that the same information she e-mailed us?
>> uh-huh.
>> can we just reread that.
>> certainly.
>> this is coming back soon anyway, right.
>> yes, sir.
>> and what's the deadline for responding to the survey?
>> we had set the deadline at the 16th. We can make it -- we don't have to leave it out that long. We have an overwhelming response. We have already gotten about 1150 responses from our employees. It's very interesting reading. All that tough do is click on the link that with you sent you, you can survey the results, but it's very interesting.
>> leave it out there that long, give you a week to analyze the results and have this back on the agenda on the 23rd.
>> yes.
>> we need a report back on the clinic, the fitness options.
>> that's correct. Yes.
>> and is two weeks long enough.
>> it should be, yes, sir.
>> long-term things that we are looking at.
>> the only other issue I think that was remaining was the end couragement to managers on -- encouragement to managers on sending employees a home or asking them to go home during the -- during this season of influenza if indeed they show symptoms of that particular illness.
>> okay.
>> it's not, you know, go home or else. But it's encouraging them to --
>> go home because we don't want you to make others sick.
>> that's correct.
>> is that the average doctor's medical advice.
>> yes, sir. Health authority, also.
>> stay home.
>> if it's good for them, it's good for us, isn't it.
>> yes, sir.
>> that's why I move approval that we encourage all managers who work for the court and elected officials to encourage sick employees to go home and get well.
>> yes, sir.
>> and not spread the sickness to other employees. We think in the long run that will help all of us.
>> uh-huh.
>> yep.
>> any more discussion of that motion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
>> thank you.
>> thank you.
>> we will have it back on the 23rd. The immediate stuff in the survey, I guess in -- in addition to reporting back on the numbers, you will tell us basically how we implement the short-term stuff unless we have done it already and progress that we can make towards implementation of long-term option.
>> just an administration issue, the court will have a regular meeting the 23rd?
>> regular meeting, two or three hours, not all day.
>> okay. I believe this court will authorize me next week to have a limited agenda.
>> you bet.
>> is that right.
>> > on the 23rd. So we can stay in the christmas spirit ourselves.
>> okay. [laughter]
>> okay. Thank you.
>> thank you all.
