Let me tell you a little bit about virgil limon as an employee of the district clerk's office for 27 years. When we say dedicated, I mean he was dedicated. He has the qualities of an exemplary employee. He has a great work ethic. You would hear virgil getting to the office at 6:30 in the morning. He would be there on Saturdays, whatever it required he was there. He's cooperative. Because as virgil knows, he's seen hasn't changes through three district clerks and he was always generous with his time. He -- he has the institutional knowledge that we are all going to miss. And he shared it with everyone. He's trained countless employees in the records division of the district clerk's office. He treats everyone the same. He has the great customer service skills that, you know, only come across when you meet virgil. He, you know, he treats everyone the same. Judges, attorneys, the public, the employees, co-workers. And virgil can attest to all the various things that have -- that have occur understand the district clerk's office -- occurred in the district clerk's office through changes, through technology, he has been there embracing all of those changes. We, of course, are sad to see him go. But we wish him all the best on his retirement. He's earned it. I know that he will always remember the times in the district clerk's office. I would like to invite everyone to please join us at the reception Friday, honoring virgil for his dedicated service to this county and to all of the employees and citizens of Travis County. We are meeting Friday, from 11:00 to 3:00. In county court at law number 2, which is on the second floor of the courthouse. And at 3:00 we will conclude, we will gather to bid a fond farewell to virgil on the south side of the exit of the main courthouse. And I think that's where virgil first entered the courthouse and he had requested that we do that -- [laughter] we have certainly honored his request. Thank you so much. We are grateful for your time, for your dedication. For your friendship. And best of luck to you. Okay?
>> thank you. [ applause ]
>> well, there's no doubt that virgil is one in a million. It's really a pleasure to be your friend. And you are always very friendly, I mean, you know, it's great to see your smile. And hello. And so --
>> thank you.
>> I think that's a tremendous reflection on the entire family.
>> it is.
>> thank you.
>> thank goodness i've -- I was born here in Austin, Texas, as a native Austinite, i've had a long relationship with the limon family and really you are talking about first class folks. They really are. And I -- it's just -- I'm privileged to have gotten to know you. Johnny lee Monday, I mean the list -- limon, the list goes on with all of the limons, you have been a great asset to Travis County, Austin Travis County, I applaud you continuously because of the things that you have been able to contribute as a family here in Austin, Travis County. You all are some great folks, I want to let you know that.
>> thank you very much.
>> thank you all.
>> I got to know virgil when I was a television news reporter. I loved it with where he said in terms of everybody was treated the same, that was always first-class treatment. As a member of the republic, as a former reporter, as now an elected official, first class, first class all the way. You and I graduated from high school the same year. How is it that you are retiring and I'm still here?!! [laughter] but -- but this is -- this is not goodbye. This is we will see you again.
>> that's right.
>> we will see you again.
>> thank you very much.
>> we appreciate your hard work, dedication and we'll have your number --
>> oh, yeah. > if there are volunteer opportunities --
>> he's welcome to return. I also failed to mention we have his mom, mrs. Limon, his lovely wife deanna and son, and the rest of the family. [laughter]
>> any words from anybody else?
>> and is that one of the newest members of the limon family behind you?
>> judge Biscoe, I just wanted to congratulate my dad. I've been gone for about 12 years living in other places and i've always just followed him on Austin 360.com or following what's going on with the county and the Commissioners court, my dad is really kind of -- has really kind of stuck through a long, many years here at the county and I know that he's really sad to leave. Even though he might want to be at the ranch every day, I know that he's sad to leave because he's going to miss interacting with everyone that he sees every day. You know, the judges, lawyers, but also just the people that come in, just the runners, you know? And I want to congratulate you, dad, also for teaching me what it means to be committed to something. Because 27 years of commitment has taught me that I also need to be committed to the people that I work for and the people that have given me chances as well. So thank you, dad.
>> well, he has seen a lot of members of the Commissioners court, too, if you can stand us for 27 years -- [laughter] -- that's a long time. My birthday is tomorrow. I will be 29 years old. [laughter] 27 years is a long time. All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Maybe we ought to come downstairs for this --
>> yes.
>> two or three cameras working.
>> [ applause ]
