34. Consider and take appropriate action on request from benjamin meeks to set up a portable shoe shine stand in the Travis County historic courthouse and criminal justice center on a pilot basis. I think they have agreed on just one location. Near the elevator of the cjc. Our thinking last time was a kind of short-term pilot contract. Looking at a couple of weeks, right if.
>> that's correct. I think the current draft is for 30 days. But it can be for a two-week period as well.
>> two to four weeks commencing on a day -- we want to see him actually set up and see if he really interfered with the flow of traffic or caused problems for us. The county's share on this would be one dollar per shoe shine.
>> correct.
>> are you going to be the first one over there, judge?
>> I have had a shortage of [indiscernible] dressing during the last two years, I need to.
>> any other discussion.
>> 30 days.
>> 30 days.
>> up to 30 days. That way if he wants to bail after two weeks --
>> is the language clear on convincing the --
>> commencing on the effective date, I left the effective date right about the signature lines blank.
>> okay.
>> the last party to sign can be mr. Meeks, he can fill it in.
>> okay.
>> are there a lot of people that want to do this?
>> that's what we are trying to do.
>> do the shoe sign. No, are there a lot of people that want to set up -- how do we just identify benjamin because -- because he asked.
>> yeah.
>> nobody else has asked?
>> [inaudible - no mic]
>> he's the only one that I know of. I put him on the agenda because he came back and -- he can by and asked.
>> we wanted everybody to have a chance.
>> I just happened to be walking through the airport one day and saw a line at the shoe sign stand.
>> if they call, continue calling --
>> is that what will happen, they say oh, they got that thing over there, everybody go over and bid on it, who gives the best shoe shine?
>> [inaudible - no mic]
>> all we are approving is a 30 day pilot. To me I'm not seeing as this being an exclusive thing for mr. Meeks, anybody else. It's hey there's a pilot to see if there's anyone beyond judge Biscoe who would get in the chair.
>> second your motion.
>> we know that will happen. I'm saying obviously if the guy is not having to go out here and buy $1,500 worth of stuff, knowing that in 30 days what this thing is going to get published for, you want to shine shoes over at the courthouse, all of a sudden 90 people show up to say, yeah, I mean --
>> then we can evaluate whether we need to [multiple voices]
>> I think he does this. The location would be new, I don't think it's a new line of business for him.
>> second your motion, judge.
>> I move. Any more discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
