Item 5
5. Approve a proclamation declaring October 18th as "austin contractors and engineers' association day."
>> we have the pleasure of another organization that's been here for the long haul, for acea they are fixing to mark this year their 20th anniversary, we will break forward with this -- we will bring forward this proclamation. Whereas the contractors engineering and association was formed in 1983 with 100 member firms from the contracting engineer and supply companies from central Texas area, and whereas their mission is to educate the public and local governments on policies and practices important to the engineers who design our streets, roads, utilities and drainage facilities, the contractors who build them and the vendors who provide them with supplies and equipment and services and whereas the Austin contractors and engineers association members have provided their expertise to Travis County as members of the Travis County subdivision review committee, the stakeholders h.b. 1445 implementation committee and the Travis County bond program citizens advisory committee in 1997 and 2001, and whereas the association holds three golf tournaments yearly to raise funds for college scholarships and the needs of low income children attending mainstream schools, formerly known as the Austin community nursery schools. Be it resolved in recognition of its 20th anniversary that the Travis County Commissioners court hereby proper claims October 18th, 2003 as Austin contractors and association day in Travis County and encourages all citizens to recognize their contributions to Travis County. I would move approval.
>> second.
>> good morning.
>> we are joined by lisa lamb who is the executive director of acea and would turn over the mic to here for any kind of comments.
>> on behalf of Austin contractors and engineers association, I would like to thank Travis County for its continuous support and thank for you the proclamation.
>> thank you.
>> thank you very much. Keep up the good work. All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
