3. Approve a proclamation declaring October 15, 2003 as "disability mentoring day."
>> and, judge, I am very pleased to present this resolution, we have a number of folks who are joining us at the desk, I'm going to go ahead and make introductions as they make theirçó seats. Shaun pebsner is on the immediate left. Next to him is denise Sonleitner who is the newest Commissioner on the Austin mayor's committee for people with disabilities and if you notice the last name, yes, indeedy she's my sister-in-law, those two blond haired children in my Austin that's her and my brother steve's children. Curt, dolores is going to be taking pictures for us, kirk voelkel and we all know deborah drummond with our own Travis County health and human services and veterans services. Whereas more than one million people with disabilities have entered the labor force since the passage of americans with disabilities act in 1990 and whereas job seekers with disabilities, regardless of age, are striving to obtain economic independence through self sufficiency and gainful employment and whereas both students and job seekers with disabilities have the right to maximize their potential, by making the most of their intellect, talents and abilities in an environment free of visible, programmatic and attitudenal bears. It provide -- barriers. It provides people with all types of disabilities for career insights by spending part of the day shadowing an employee as he or she goes through a normal day on the job. As well as they may benefit from mentoring people with disabilities as a way of learning about the experience of disabilities, developing lasting relationships with disability community leaders and recruiting new and emerging talent for meaningful internship and employment opportunities, now therefore be it resolved that the Travis County Commissioners court hereby proper claim October 15th, 2003, as disability mentoring day in Travis County and encourages all citizens to recognize the enormous potential of people with disabilities and to work toward their full integration into the workforce and I would --

>> disability mentoring day is a national event that is put on by the american association for people with disabilities and this is the first year that the Austin mayor's committee for people with disabilities has been the local coordinator for the event and we thank you for this proclamation.

>> this is for -- since we are all in this community together, we are having at the end of the month, since this is national disability employment awareness month throughout the united states, that we are having a get together on October the 30th, and I have some fliers, judge, Commissioners, that you are very welcome to come to, it's a very nice gathering. It will -- the proceeds donations will be going toward the mayor's committee to support activities for the future year, support of our community people. So thank you very much once again for the proclamation and resolution.
