Number 3 is to discuss amendment of chapter 17 of the Travis County code to allow closed sessions for benefits appeals panel hearings.
>> move the public hearing be opened.
>> all in favor? That passes unanimously.
>> good morning. Good morning judge and Commissioners. I'm the executive manager for operations. Chapter 17 is a chapter that governs ourself-insured funds for county health care. And when it was originally passed, it did not allow an appeals panel to hear any issues of health care coverage in closed session. In other words, it had to be in open session. We rerequested the legislature take another look at this particular statute, and sb 984 was passed and it does allow for appeals on health care insurance to be done in executive session or stay in closed session. That is one of the amendments and that is why we have a public hearing.
>> and the reason for that is during those appeals, medical information about the individual is often discussed.
>> individual and sometimes family members also.
>> okay.
>> [inaudible - no mic]
>> yes.
>> this is posted to give residents the opportunity to address the court. Is there anyone who would like to give testimony during this public hearing?
>> move the public hearing be closed.
>> second.
>> any objections called to our attention?
>> no, sir.
>> [inaudible - no mic].
>> no.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. This will be action item number 32-a and b on teed's segd.
