Number 34, consider and take appropriate action on proposed solid waste facilities siting ordinance, including readoption of floodplain ordinance under the health and safety code and comments received. This is the action item for the public hearing conducted under item number 1. After reviewing the comments, john and tom, any last minute recommendations?
>> no, sir.
>> tom?
>> no recommendations.
>> in that case I move approval of the siting ordinance as advertised as the item indicates, including readoption of a floodplain ordinance.
>> I second that.
>> any more discussion of the motion? Any comments from any in attendance? All in favor of the motion? That passes by unanimous vote.
>> judge, I would like to say this. I would like to thank the community, the neighborhood folks out there, the industry, staff, this Commissioners court. It hasn't been easy, folks, but at least we have now an opportunity to develop criterion and setbacks where these particular industries must locate in Travis County. Precinct 1, along with other precincts, have been struggling for a long time so they can experience a quality of life that people have throughout Travis County. Unfortunately we have not had the power to do that. With the sludge farm operations, the composting of dead animals, things of that nature being located for 200,000 -- near 200,000, 300,000-dollar homes is uncalled for. And subdivisions that are coming online and to have to deal with these type of industries I think is -- ruins of quality of life as far as what we experience in Travis County. Again, I would like to thank this Commissioners court for dealing with this for a long time. It's been a long time. It really has. But at least I think we're going in the right direction, and again i'd like to thank etch and every one of my colleagues in this endeavor. I really appreciate your hard work and the attention that you've given to the residents of Travis County as we move forward to a better quality of life for the citizens within our county. Thank you.
