Item 2
Number 2 is to approve proclamation honoring Pflugerville police chief david buesing upon receiving the state's law enforcement achievement award for professional achievement.
>> judge and Commissioners, I’m very proud to read this proclamation at this time. Chief beusing and his wife carol and the constable precinct 2, if they can go ahead and have a site at the table and get comfortable and I will be ahead and read the proclamation. Whereas david buesing began his career with the Austin police department over 30 years ago, in 1980 he became Pflugerville's first police chief when the city, believe it or not, had 444 residents and he has seen that department grow from its modest beginnings to a department with a state-of-the-art criminal justice center and whereas the chief sets an example for his force by studying criminal justice so he can take the best practices and apply them in his community, and whereas he served in another volunteer capacity on behalf of Travis County residents spending twoafl years on the community advisory board of our north rural community center and whereas Travis County Commissioners court asked him to serve on you on behalf on capco, law enforcement education committee, with four of the 8 years of service as its chairman and whereas community policing has been the cornerstone of chief beusing's law enforcement philosophy. Now therefore be it resolved that the Travis County Commissioners court commend chief for his dedication to the community and congratulations him on being one of five police officers across Texas receiving the state's law enforcement achievement award for professional achievement and I move approval.
>> second.
>> y'all, this is a very big deal and we had to like drag chief down here because he does want to take credit for anything that he's done. But this is a huge award in the law enforcement community and we think of the chief as part of the family here because his wife carol works out at constable bob mann's office as his deputy. Bob is here as well to add their words of congratulations. I would turn it over to the three of you for any comments that you might have for the court.
>> I really do thank you. This has really been a great honor working with and for Travis County. Even though I’m in Pflugerville. It means a lot to me to be able to come down here and thank you. I really appreciate it all. It's been a on lot of fun.
>> well, thank you.
>> congratulations to you.
>> thank you.
>> carroll or bob, do you have any kind of comments that you would like to add?
>> it is my congratulations to you david buesing, but I would say they are long overdue. He does not like to -- working for the community, he doesn't go around looking for any thank yous. It was really wonderful for the state to recognize that. Even more wonderful that the Commissioners court here recognizes that.
>> we wanted to make sure everybody knew about his service on behalf of this Commissioners court because it takes a lot to give your evenings in terms of the community center out at Pflugerville and that service was very much appreciated and is a great deal of cooperation between the sheriff's office and the city of Pflugerville. So -- so you are part of the family.
>> thank you.
>> congratulations to you.
>> thank you.
>> chief, how do you pronounce your last name?
>>
>> bees-lee.
>> would you like to have something to say?
>> carol?
>> no, just on behalf of the citizens of precinct 2 and Travis County I would like to congratulate my husband.
>> all right.
>> he's always been my mentor, needless to say. And it did take some doing to get him down here. Because he doesn't like publicity and we working on that. [laughter]
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
>> thank you for your service.
>> congratulations to you.
>> thank you.
>> thank you very much for your service, we really appreciate you.
