Item 1
1. Conduct public hearing to discuss and approve the vacation of a portion of right-0f-way of normandy ridge lane and fowler drive in lake pointe phase 2, a subdivision in precinct 3.
>> move to open the hearing.
>> second.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
>> good morning, I'm joe gieselman, at t.n.r. Perhaps the best way to explain this is with the map that I just handed out. Colored in yellow are strips of right-of-way that will be vacated, in green our strips of right-of-way that will be dedicated. What's going on here is the following. Immediately west of this subdivision is a major shopping center, that is being planned in the Bee Caves area. This subdivision, which is single family residential are worried about traffic coming from the shopping center through the neighborhood. So those asked that -- they asked that these streets be stubbed off so as to be -- so as to preclude through traffic. What you see in the yellow is a vacation of a strip of right-of-way, thereby allowing those two stub streets to be closed off. But also allowing for turn around for emergency vehicles. And that is what this public hearing is about, to hear if there's any comment with regard to the closing of these streets, which are being advocated by this very neighborhood. I know of no objection, but the purpose of the public hearing is to find out if there is.
>> so, joe, when this thing was originally platted, the streets were stubbed out thinking that it would connect to another subdivision. Now it's become exearld clear is that not only is it not a subdivision, it is a major shopping center. So this would be consistent then in terms of how we would handle these kinds of things.
>> yes. Keep in mind to the south, is Bee Caves road. So -- so what they are worried about is the commercial traffic trying to find a shortcut to Bee Caves to get on to Austin. Well, we would discourage them using neighborhood streets to do that.
>> would anyone like to give testimony during this public hearing? If so, please come forward. Seeing none --
>> move that the public hearing be closed.
>> second.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
