Item 19
19. Receive presentation to Travis County from can capitol area transportation for political and financial support for the central Texas turnpike project. How are you doing?
>> good. Good to see you.
>> judge Biscoe and members of the court, we appreciate so much you allowing us to be with you today. I'm the volunteer chair of the chapter area transportation coalition, affectionately known by many as catc. Thanks for a job well done and done congratulations on moving mobility forwards in our reach. We have had a wonderful regional partnership, catc and a number of both public and private organizations over the last five or six years, as we have, all of us, recognized how far behind we were in the needs of moving people and goods around this community. And it's a regional situation, and this court has played a leadership role along with other very important partners in being sure that we keep focused on those issues, find solutions, adopt them and then implement them. My specific purpose here is to talk about the capitol -- I beg your pardon, the central Texas turnpike projects, but let me acknowledge, too, the important things that Travis County has done. Not only has it participated in the right of way and utility relocation needs of those project, but it passed its own independent bond package, which was critical to providing needed financing for those projects. It has been there more than just on these turnpike authority projects. It has been there on helping regional players find needed funds to bridge the gap, the funding gap, so that we could leverage txdot other projects like 183, which are again woefully behind and badly needed, and with your help we're making that wonderful progress, and of course your participation in campo and allowing that organization to make decisions and move forward has been critical. We originally wanted to come and celebrate the ground breaking on a project that is known as the big t. The intersection where mopac meets state highway 45 close to ih-35 just west, and we were originally scheduled for a ground breaking ceremony at which we hoped that all of you would join us and other regional representatives. Unfortunately, we picked the one day in February when all of central Texas was covered in ice and nobody was going anywhere. We had stopped a mobility problem that day by simply staying home. As a result we postponed that celebration. We have taken the show on the road and wanted today to come tell you how much we and all the people of central Texas thank you for what you have done and what we know you will be doing in the future. We have brought with us a little mow men toe, a coaster that celebrates that ground breaking. It has happened. It didn't wait, and that project is underway. We're most hopeful that this will be the first coaster struck in a series of coasters that celebrate other central Texas mobility projects that will break ground in the near term and again your leadership and spirit will be all important for us to be able to continue that progress and achieve success. So a very brief presentation but we do want to say thanks, and congratulations, and we appreciate being here.
>> thank you.
>> thank you.
>> it might also be noted that the [indiscernible] and they are normally prompt and quick in acting and Travis County would receive them in both expeditious and prompt treatment [indiscernible] so keep that in mind. [multiple voices]
>> thank you.
